Feeling like I made a mistake....
So I swung for the fences and got (what I thought was) my dream car in December. Its been about 4 months now and I can't say I've really connected with the car the way I expected to.
We've had a really nasty couple of months weather wise and I find the car is just sitting most of the time.
In all marginal cases, I've taken the Range Sport and found myself thoroughly happy I did. Every-time I drive the Range Rover I fall in love with it again, the 911 I feel guilty for not liking it more.
I've had some fun drives in the hills and on the rare nice afternoon but nothing has come close to the level of the test drive.
I went to a PCA meet and everyone was really cool and complimented the car. Friends and family have been really supportive so it's not social pressure causing this.
I'm thinking to give it a further 60 days and then list the car for sale if I don't change my mind? Is this common, has anyone else dealt with this or am being stupid?

If you don't connect with it, sell it. As great as they are, they aren't for everyone. You didn't say, however, what it is about it thats not drawing you in. Too sporty, too quiet, too rough, pdk, etc.

Were your previous sporty cars a "manual"?
The driving experience of 991 is so much improved with a manual.
Also, the .2 cars are great for those looking for low down streetable punch ( Vs the linear power delivery of .1 for long twisty roads )

Why did you buy the car? What role did you want it to fill? Are you using it for that, is that use still relevant to you? Maybe a different car will meet your needs/wants better than a sports car. There really isn’t anything wrong with that. You know you better than any of us.

I test drove two 991.1's and wasn't really getting it, and i know Porsche guys say get the last NA engine yep i read up on all that, I was coming out of a 2020 M2 competition which did not really do it for me either and after 2 years i was underwhelmed with it.. so to your situation, i test drove a 2013 991.1 C2S in sapphire blue Aerokit and i so wanted to love it stunning color i walked away, then a week later i went to a Porsche dealer top do some more test drives as they had a CPO in Black 2014 991.1 C2S then a CPO 2017 991.2 C2 then an 2021 M4 comp (503hp) and jumped right back into the 2017 991.2 C2,... so to summarize the M4 was maniacally fast and very gadgety but felt big like a sedan, when i switched back into the 991.2 i suddenly had an epiphany, i suddenly got it.... whatever it is, it felt refined enough for me coming from a BMW 2020 M2C only better, and it felt Better than the M4 comp more what i was looking for.
For those who love the 991.1 more power to you... but the two i test drove a week apart just didn't get me like them 991.2 ... i am actually enjoying the lack of safety nannies and tech monitoring, but it has a back up camera and front and rear sensors which is just right for me, because they work well compared to some newer cars i have owned.
Only you really know what you are looking for, were you driving away from the dealer with that sinking feeling in your stomach wondering if you did the right thing?
i drove away beaming feeling amazed and i couldn't wait to get up and drive the car the next day.

Yah....991.1's are not for everyone, they feel sluggish compared to Turbo Charged Cars, the low end torque is just not there. And winding up these motors on most city streets is just not safe. But when you get a nice empty windy mountain road, or race track, that's where the joy of the N/A motors shine. Turbo cars feel faster and many times can lap a track faster, but the N/A cars are a vibe thing, and you either love or don't. It's such a subjective thing. I have owned both NA and FI cars and I do love both. But as car prices are ridiculous right now, I am sticking with what I got.
But to the OP, I would wait for nicer weather, open roads and/or a race track and really wring that motor out. I think you will see why people love them so much. The 991 chassis and drivetrain is so capable that normal daily driving is just not that exciting in these cars.

Options as I see them:
1-Give it a month or two and see if I get more opportunities to drive the car and then re-assess.
2-Move out of Northern New Jersey and see if that helps me like the car more.
3-Sell the car now.

I didn't buy it looking for clout, not sure where that came from. Since I was about 6 I always wanted one, I had models and posters of them in my childhood bedroom. A surgeon I worked for when I was 19 gave me a ride in one and I knew I had to have one. Now that I do, I just kind of feel like I don't have the opportunities to really engage with the car the way it deserves. I've taken the car out every nice day over 40* (10 days or so, ~1000 Miles) and I've gotten maybe 3 really great drives in it.

Well, probably give it a chance for it to be appropriate weather so you can actually drive it. I assume it has summer tires on it? If so, it'll feel comparatively awful to drive under about 60F.
That said, it's still a 911, and as such it's loud, stinky, and uncomfortable. A far cry from your SUV.

Are you looking for someone to talk you out of selling or to tell you it's OK? Very confusing thread since it would likely be the case that if there was another with similar feelings and they sold, they're probably no longer participating on this board. Sell now if you have regrets. You'll get the most back in this market. Good luck with your choice.

If I ever got close to asking/mentioning that I want to sell my car (and I did , a few months ago), there will be no going back. Just the idea that your beloved and dream Toy isn't making you smile from ear to ear is all you need to know to make your decision.
Having this much money tied up in something that you hope, one day, may be, possibility , bring you more joy than it does currently, is proof this car isn't for you.
I dont have to go fast, not break the speed limit or finish a hot lap at the local race track to know that this car is what I want. It costs thousands and thousands more than many cars that are faster in a straight line, but the joy it brings the moment I turn the steering, the way the car settles, the way the rear biased engine dares me to lift mid corner so it can bite me, the way it holds its line and the way it puts every one of its now-meager HP down on exit, is all I need from my beloved toy.
lastly, Location is HUGE
We went for a 2 week trip to Sonoma last year and the roads there were so Epic that I could have had ( and I did) a rental Toyota Camry and had TONS of fun driving through those curvy roads. Location is at least as important as the car, if not more. You can have more fun in a great location with an average car, than in a great car and below average location.
