Default Porsche Extended Warranty

Since I live in California, unfortunately I cannot get an extended warranty on my 2018 991.2 .
My CPO warranty ends in early 2024 and I really want to get more protection. Is going back to Porsche and paying a fortune up front, my only option? Or is to late to even go back to Porsche and buy it?

What does being in CA have to do with the warranty?

I bought Fidelity Platinum. I bought it from a local Porsche dealer in California. And dealers know how to use it automatically. Last time at (a different) dealer I had something repaired, and said I had Fidelity Platinum up front, and they took care of all the paperwork (just charged me the deductible).

Well that sucks. Porsche has their own branded extended warranty aside from CPO. Expensive though, def room to negotiate. My local dealer matched the Fidelity pricing for my parents on their Cayenne turbo.

I believe this is incorrect. It is my understanding that it has to be purchased through a California Dealer (can’t be purchased out of state) so some of the great discounts being offered here may not be available.

Why do you feel you need to buy a warranty?

I purchased my 2017 991.2 GTS back in December from Ontario Porsche in CA and it was a CPO with 2 years unlimited mileage warranty plus I purchased another Porsche extended warranty for 5 years 60K miles. All done at the dealer. I understand my first two years are under the CPO warranty and then I have up to 5 years and and 60,000 miles from the purchase date and odometer with a small deductible. The extended warranty added about $6500 to the deal. I did the same thing with a 2011 Cayenne I bought back in 2014 through Carmax, with their Maxcare warranty that covered the car up to 125K miles( 75K on top of the factory warranty. It was worth every penny as the Porsche fixed a lot of stuff around 115K miles abot $14K worth. Now my Cayenne has 172k miles and is running great although I recently did timing chain rails out of pocket. Still all in all, it doesn't take much to recoup the warranty cost at a Porsche dealer if you need work done.

2 months ago I purchased the 10 year, $100 deductible, 75K mile platinum VSP plan from my local dealer for my 2019 Targa. I am in the LA/OC area.

My manufacture's warranty expires on 10/2023. I called over 10 dealer both in and out of my state (CA). My local dealer first quoted me $10k. I then called each dealer's finance manager and asked them for a quote. I worked my way around to the cheapest quote and took it back to the finance manager at my local dealer.

I paid $6,950. No tax added. LA County dealer. This will cover my Targa 4 GTS until 2029, or 75K miles.

How many miles were on your Targa?
