Rear emblem template

Rear emblem template
I want to replace the chrome rear emblems on my 991.2 with black ones. I am a bit of a perfectionist so I want the alignment to be perfect. Currently I have the whole model designation which includes the Porsche lettering and under that, 911 Carrera. I want to just go with Porsche 911 for a cleaner look. Suncoast parts has a template which is what I'm planning on buying for the alignment. They sell two different sizes for the 911 logo.
My question is does anyone know which size is the correct one for the template? I measured my current badge and it looks like I have the smaller one (2.9 inch wide). But I'm not sure if the size is different for the Carrera delete (i.e. would it be bigger to compensate for the lack of the Carrera emblem?) Can someone who has just the Porsche 911 measure the 911 portion and let me know if it is 2.9 inches wide or 3.5 inches wide. I asked Suncoast and they weren't sure either. Thanks in advance.

I measured the 911 at ~3.5” x ~1.25”. This on a 2014 991.1 C2S with just PORSCHE and 911. At least 2 prior owners, not sure if there were changes between factory and when I got it. Hope this helps with your question. If it were me, I wouldn’t accept Suncoast’s “we’re not sure” … If you’re buying a template, what matters most is the size of the template’s cutout for 911, and the size of the 911 numbers that go into the template

My dealer installed the letters at no charge. If you are buying new (OEM) uninstalled lettering that already has the adhesive on the back, you might just want to ask them. The conditions for them installing the letters for me was that they were in fact new (un mounted) OEM letters purchased from Porsche. In other words, not knock-offs or previously removed lettering that would require new adhesive being installed. The other condition was that the mounting surface was completely clean and ready to receive the newly installed lettering. This would ensure that they didn't have to do any additional prep work that would take any extra time. It took all of about 10 minutes to install the new lettering.

Check with your local PPF guys and see if one will print out for you, on PPF, the rear template. Assuming they use a cutter the letters and whatever you want on the back (911 vs Carrera whatever) will be pre-cut. You can tape the PPF to the rear and go to town.

This is a really interesting idea. I'll definitely have to look into this. Thanks!

I just sold my template for my T to fellow Rennlister. If you need reasonable shipping quotes, check out pirateship.com as the normal shipping rates can get expensive since the template is kind of big.

For the archives: per recent phone call with Suncoast, for the template PORSCHE with just 911 underneath, the “optional small size” 911 emblem is the one that fits. Should probably still double-check with them if you order
