Porsche stepped up and is covering 80% of the repair. Cost to me is $500 (CAD) plus tax. I'm having them replace the belt ($109.84) and the engine filter ($261.70 for the part and a bit of labour) while they are in there.

Thanks for everyones help on this

glad to hear they are taking care of you.

Did they complain about your service work being done at an independent while under warranty? Porsche head office said to me this would be an issue if a related part needed repair under warranty.

Me too!

My situation is not entirely the same as your question (and what Porsche said to you) but the service advisor definitely gave me attitude and pushed back saying Porsche will deny a goodwill replacement due to my lack of dealer service (car is 6 months out of warranty). That was at 4:30 PM yesterday. She called back this morning at 9:21 with the good news. Seems like a very quick response from Porsche.

My car goes in for a new pump today, with this being its first mechanical failure of any kind over 5.5 years and 57,000+ miles.

Take it with a grain of salt, as I am not sure it's worth much, but the only warning I got was a very faint and very occasional whiff of coolant smell over several weeks and months—but there was never any visual evidence of a leak under the car or on the pipes and other surfaces near the water pump. No dash warning when I was driving it home the other evening, and there still isn't when I started the car to back it into the driveway. Only telltale was a pink pool of coolant on the garage floor spotted while I was loading up another car's trunk.

I noticed a small trail of fluid (that had mostly dried) coming from the rear of the Porsche to the floor drain. Looked under the car and saw a small puddle on the garage floor. In my situation there was very little indication looking at the underside of the car itself.

All fixed up and back on the road.

The water pump and valve block were replaced under the extended warranty by the team at Porsche Marin, and I decided to replace the drive belt at my cost as 6 years in service is only a few months away. It was time for a new battery, too, as the car didn't like starting up to go on a flatbed after sitting for a week. I ended up going with Porsche's battery despite my temptation to go with an aftermarket lithium battery.

Next stop at 60k is spark plugs for the second time with fresh oil. Hoping the latest pump will last longer, but it sounds like the latest is still from an outside supplier with plastic impellers. I am a little surprised that Weissach hasn't engineered its own given the prevalence of this problem.

Thanks to all who shared experiences and recommendations.

I think the correct coolant pump for my 2019 Carrera S is
Engine Water Pump - Porsche (0PB-121-010-D) AKA coolant pump!

(There is no 0PB – 121–005 – D)

0PB – 121–005 – C does not fit my car.

I checked with 3 different Porsche dealer parts websites.

FWIW, after the repair, I had the same exact MFD warning message & I pulled same code: fault P1432 – vacuum system fine leak – cooling system fault.

I take the 911 back to Porsche on Monday!

4 days.

After I picked up car, drove & then sat overnight, I checked coolant level & red ball pegged @ MIN so had to add 16 oz. But no MFD warning till a few days later. I suspect the problem was almost immediate.

Got my car back W, 3-13-24.
Took > 1 week to diagnose & test. Still N/C repair.

The new coolant pump that they had installed the 1st time (0PB – 121–005 – C) failed to hold vacuum.

On the invoice it says: “internal fault with coolant pump. Replaced coolant pump with new (most recent design) replaced vacuum pump, lines and block. System passes vacuum test. Performed multiple drive cycles. Checked for faults. None found.”

Parts list:
OPB-121-010-D Coolant Pump
9A7-906-283-00 Valve Block
9A2-110-065-01 Vacuum Line
OPB-145-100-B Vacuum Pump
9A2-110-080-01 Vacuum Line
9A2-110-086-01 Control Line

After car sat overnight, I ck coolant level & almost all the way to MAX.

Good!

Again….

4-5-2024: Heat does Not work! Was 50s & even with temp set to 80˚F, just cold outside air from vents!
Let sit overnight & ck coolant…now @ MIN!
Another coolant leak into vacuum lines causing the no heat?

4-7-2024, Pull codes with my Launch device.
No DTC codes!

Why is coolant low?
Why no heat?

Add coolant, Added 16 oz. 50:50 now @ MAX.

4-15-2024, 26,318 mi. MFD warning: "cooling system fault. consult a workshop. service required”
I will ck coolant level tomorrow after sits overnight.
Pull codes with my Launch device
SAME CODE!
DTC P1432 vacuum system fine leak – cooling system fault

I will be taking it back to Porsche very soon. How can the 2nd replacement coolant pump fail so soon?

Am I correct that the no heat problem is due to some problem with the coolant pump and/or vacuum lines?

This is becoming a nightmare!

@TwinTurbro420 Any updates? A few things that may help you and others:

1. The Water pump warranty has been extended by Porsche to 2028,
2. The "No-Heater' problem may or may not be related to the coolant/water pump problem. For some nonsensical reason, Porsche uses some dinky vaccuum solenoids to control the heater valves. I had this problem Every winter with my 991.1 (now, no longer in this world) up to this past winter. The solenoids were replaced frequently and the heater would work for a while then start blowing cold air on the coldest days of winter. This is a common problem with the 991 generation of cars. So it may be worthwile to inquire about the solenoids (there are four I believe).

Keep us posted.

Yes, I learned about & mentioned the 10 yr. extended coolant pump warranty from RL & other forums & mentioned it in my post #19.

Thanks!
