2019 991.2 water pump (out of warranty)
Anyone 2019 owners experience a water pump failure out of warranty?
In all the threads seen a few 2019 991.2a (and 992s) fail, but they were replaced under warranty.
Mine is a 2019 model (09/2018 build) and it’s less than a year off warranty.
Will be calling Porsche on Monday, but wondering if anyone has any experience here.
Looks like the WP 10 year extended warranty only covers up to the 2018 991.2s 😞

I believe the extended warranty only covers 2017 and 2018s. The 2019s had the new design but who knows, your early 2019 may have had the old water pump. They can figure it out. I just got my 2018 water pump replaced last month under warranty. I'm sorry for your troubles. Maybe they will replace it under "good will".
Let us know how this worked out. Good luck.

🤞it’s the old design.
still not 100% sure it’s the WP - haven’t seen any visible evidence of any leaks, but the temp spiked to 117c and when we checked the coolant it was down 2 quarts. After filling it all up, it spiked again.

With the "typical" water pump problem, you will definitely see coolant.

Good to know. I thought I read on a few of the threads that the leak can go into the vacuum system (still due to a failed pump) and be undetected - other than high temp.
Since it's out of warranty, I'm trying to figure out if I get the indie Porsche shop (who all my friends swear by) or take it to the dealer to diagnose / fix. If it's most likely an issue with the pump and they'll cover a 2019 out of warranty then it's a no brainer. But if it isn't the pump (or they won't cover it under warranty) then I'm not sure yet which route to go.

The water pump repair is about $1300-$1500 at a dealer. As far as Porsche stuff goes, it's not ruinously expensive.

Finally an update.
Dealership initially couldn't reproduce to problem because they only drove it around the block. Tried to take on an overnight / home test drive and 15 minutes in (which was my symptom) had to return to the dealership because it was overheating.
No leaks, no codes are being thrown. Checked the thermostat and did a pressure test, all is fine.
Next recommended diagnostic step they say is to remove / replace water pump at a cost of $4,500 CAD. Tech said that it could be an internal failure / leak but won't know until they do the work 😞.
Only once they replace it they can attempt to go to Porsche Canada on warranty (no guarantees) because there are no visible leaks / codes.
Any recommendations from Rennlist?
Thanks in advance 🙏😃

UPDATE:
Got my car back! Turns out the water pump had failed with an internal leak sucking coolant into the vacuum lines.
Old pump on my 2019 991.2 was part # 0PB-121-005-A - does anyone know if this is the same pump model # on the 2017-2018 991.2s?
Replaced with # 0PB-121-005-C pump
Given I was recently out of warranty, Porsche Canada did cover 100% parts and 67% labour.
Also the tech did say there was a 2019 Carrera T with the same pump failure while my car was in the shop. I'm hoping they extend the 10yr warranty to include the 2019 991.2s...

what is it with germans and water pumps? not one german car manufacturer can build a reliable water pump!
