Traded my 911 for a 2024 BMW X5
I did it for 2 main reasons, one was the CPO warranty had recently expired and I don't like 3rd party extended warranties and the second was that there are no dealerships or indies anywhere near me so if anything went wrong it would be a big problem because my wife no longer drives. I would say the car was 100% reliable while I had it. The thing I noticed most was that the X5 drives like a Lincoln Town car compared to the 911. Because I've bought 13 BMWs from the dealership they gave me a good deal on the X5 but the trade was another story. The BMW dealership also owns a Porsche store in Jacksonville and they bought my car for a lousy $71k. that was a few thousand less than I expected but I didn't want the hassle of selling the car and I only had to pay sales tax on the difference which saved about 5 grand. Maybe I should have kept the Porsche as a fun car but the thought of a break down or even a flat tire scares me.

Are not only horrible in maitenance, but the value drops like a blonds bikini after tequila shots. I will never understand why anyone buys a german or italian SUV. My so 22' grand cherokee 2 row altitude has a very luxurious interior, was 46k out the door including taxes. It will be 10 years before any maitenance other than oil changes or tires are required. It is a powerful motor and when pinned launches. America sucks at cars but makes a pretty fantastic truck with near zero operating cost. Why would you subject yourself to german or italian reliability in a truck for 2x the price initially, 3x the dealer maitenance cost and a noseblead depreciation line ?
You're seriously talking about reliability and a Jeep product in the same sentence?

Congrats the 2024 X5 is great.
V6 or V8?
The mild hybrid system that BMW has implemented is really a work of art.
iDrive 8.5 is also a nice update.
Enjoy the SUV.

Wife has X-5
The wife has a really nice murdered out X-5 with a great color interior. I really like it which is good, as I generally inherit her hand me down vehicles.
The 911 is a keeper, though. It is our third car and will be the one we have for a long while.

Not sure why anyone would post this on a site for 911 enthusiasts. Are you waiting for someone to say 'great choice. You made the right decision?'

My wife loves her new 2024 X5 and it really drives great for it's size (better than her prior Cayenne), but no way I'm giving up my 991 for it!

Track Day
Hard to trade out of a 911 for an X5 but makes sense in a lot of ways. The 911 pulls at our emotions that most vehicles can't but an X5 or any SUV is far more practical and comfortable.
We have an X5 for run around duties and for travel. It's the one that gets the most use and I didn't think I would like it as much as I do. It's suprisingly good.
Not sure if we will keep it out of warranty and depreciation on BMWs in general are brutal but then again it's the same with any luxury SUV.
Sports cars are nice but you need utiliatiran vehicles too. Enjoy!
