I don't think silicone would be a long-lasting lube.
I would try a spray lithium grease, or penetrating oil.
There are also spray garage door lubes with graphite that I think would also work well.

Believe me. This stuff is better than any lube. It took care of my noisy hinge. Made by Boeing. Easy fix.

You're correct. Silicone worked for a few weeks. Trying T-9 next...

I tried the T-9 spray on my driver side door 3 days ago. I cleaned the existing plastic stop strap first with blue shop towel and isopropyl alcohol to remove the lithium I had tried.

used the same towel as a backstop while I sprayed the strap … left the door wide open for a few minutes than open/close a few cycles,, it helped, but not gone .. over the last 3 days it has gotten incrementally better, until today I noticed when opening … literally no sound.

So I am a fan of the T-9 spray for this application, not sure what else I might use it for though.

Glad it worked. You can use it for anything that needs lubrication. I use it on locks, window hardware my spring HAS threads, etc.
On the door spray all hinges and onto the strape that goes into the door.
