Default Will Porsche Release Past Service Records?

The dealership I bought my 2015 Targa 4S from is a Ferrari Dealership but is owned by large Porsche Dealership also here in Houston, Texas. The salesman said no to keep the previous owner’s name confidential. Carfax did show a consistent oil, filter and regular maintenance list but nothing else. Any way to get further information from Porsche for a second owner?

I don’t think you will get much info over the phone. If you drove to the Porsche dealer with the car and spoke with the service manager, you might be able to at least find out what was done and what needs to be done. I don’t think that you are going to get printouts of the service records though.

On an 8 year old car, there is quite a bit that should have been done. Cant hurt to try.

I was able to get previous service records by visiting the service department with my current registration/Id. I don’t believe it had anyone’s name tied to it-just a basic printout of services and dates.

A visit to your service advisor will help you with obtaining the recorded service history.
Carfax is useless if a small independent shop was used.

Most owners abandon the dealership as soon as their warranties expire..

The protection of personal information laws are useful for dealerships to hide behind and say no to vehicle history.

Then you buy a car and the the previous owners names and addresses are written in the service book...

I was able to get info on the car's I was interested in purchasing this last year.

It's easier if the dealer serviced the car but if it was serviced at another dealer they will have to call and it's up to the other dealer to release the records.

All the past records I've gotten before purchasing they remove the name of the previous owner.

I always use the "I trust you but I would to verify".......

Service is tied to the vin number at Porsche dealers. Call a different dealer, and make sure to patronize the dealer who provided the information.

I got all the records from the delivery day onwards till I took possession of my GTS. The Porsche dealer was also the selling dealer to the original owner. All the service manager did was cut out the name and address on the service invoices.

I was able to receive the full history of the car. Dealer sold it to the original owner. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Like others have stated, detailed service records are only going to be available from the dealerships the vehicle has been serviced at, you can't call Porsche for that information. If it is a one owner car serviced at the same dealership from Day 1, congratulations, If not, you'll have to do some Car Fax digging and calling around to every dealer/indie a service was performed for their specific records.

As mentioned above, the work around is to ask the seller of the Porsche dealer if they can make copies of history records with names and address of previous owner(s) removed.
And yes, address and name of previous owner(s) will be in the service book.

The fact is the previous one owner of this 911 wrote his name and addresses in the owner’s manual. 😊
