Default PDK transmission and clutch fluid

Poked around and saw a few discussions on this. I have a 2012.5 with 41k miles and I am debating the following

Porsche service schedule calls for a 120k/12 year service interval, but we all know that's WAY too long, for both the PDK clutch oil and the transmission oil

I am going to replace the transmission oil as DIY since it's pretty straight forward drain and fill

The question is the PDK clutch fluid

1. DIY- drain and fill which would only replace about 4-5L instead of the 6L (and no filter replacement)
2. Pay the stealership for the full pan/filter and 6L of fluid replacement (they want $1500 here in SoCal)

I was thinking doing the DIY drain and fill and wait until the car have about 60k miles (which is probably another 5 years before doing the full pan and filter change)

thoughts? any down side?

You are pretty much at 12 years (or already there depending when the car was registered). Why not just do the recommended service and be done with it? I personally would.

You could also have a good indy shop perform it and source the fluids and pan yourself. The dealers charge stupid money for the fluids... upwards of $400+. As Shammerman suggested -- you're about due on age anyway so do the complete service and rest easy at night.

Yeah makes sense. I called around a couple of indy shop and they want the same kind of money......... Is actually not that bad at $1500....(i think it was like $600 for my 987.2 PDK service) The only upside at a indyshop is they will do the diff/transmission for just $150 on top of that (which saves me from DIY)

I have the same issue. My 2012.5 has 13.6K on it. At least I won't get dirty doing it DIY.....

Same here.

I just changed my transmission gear lube last month at 8 years and 6845 miles on my 2015 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS. I used the gear lube that Porsche supplies 000 043 305 49 since I cannot remember seeing a specification for the gear lube anywhere. I've also never seen a drain and fill plug that uses O-rings (not available seperately). It took 3.2 liters.

Changed the front differential gear lube and AWD Controller gear lube as well. Each took 1.0 liter.
