Actual Mileage
Hello,
I have a friend that bought a 991.1 a few months ago and while trying to change the guage faces he found something called "mileage blocker" behind the cluster. After doing some searching I found this website. https://mileageblocker.com/home-1. It was turned off becuase the speedodometer was reading correctly, not the 1/10th actual it should when active but he's concerned that this may have been active before and mileage is not correct. Car didn't have much of a service history on carfax so it's tough to confirm.
Has anyone seen this? I tried my thinkdiag coder and went to select system-DTE-Stream to see mileage but it matches the dash display. Is there some other place else I can look up the actual mileage so that he can go back to the seller with this issue?

well first and foremost, the operation of that device constitutes a felony in the united states, so I highly recommend removing it immediately and perhaps contacting the previous owner about it.
looking at the product, it looks like it's just intercepting the bus values being fed to the instrument cluster.
that relies heavily on the instrument cluster's interpretation of speed over time to spit out distance back onto the bus that the other modules would record. that's a pretty major flaw in what should be a redundant system to prevent exactly this.
I don't remember which modules store the chassis mileage, but I'd read the ECM, TCM, and instrument cluster with a good scan tool to see what the mileage is.
this reeks of snake oil to me, much like throttle controllers, specifically because each make/model of car is broken out into its own webpage, but the prices are all the same. sane storefront development practices would say this is the same core product with a different pigtail on it, so you just choose that from a dropdown instead of navigating through a whole-*** store.

Ugh. Mileage blocker??? If I were your friend, I would seriously be considering legal action on the seller of the vehicle. I'm also seeing the OP is in Miami. Why am I not surprised to see something like this happening in Miami?!?! (For the record, I'm in So FL too) I'm hoping all my assumptions about this are wrong.

Porsche or a Porsche dealer can give you the service history of the car when it was serviced in a dealership. That should give you the first 4 years or warranty period.
I think I would get an attorney and force the seller to buy back the car plus all fees to do so...

It was a private seller and I told him to file a report with the police. I'll get a pic of the dongle to post. I'm not sure if it really works or was a scam and one of the 4 previous owners installed it and just never took it out but it was definately not doing anything when he got the car.

Are you able to see total engine hours ....average speed?

While very concerning that someone tried, the device described is just a scam.
That device likely does nothing but blink a few lights.
If you indeed constructed a device to alter the CAN message and plug it to the cluster all the other modules would have the different mileage and vehicle speed would be wrong when in operation.
If the mileage in the other modules matches you are good and can trow that device in the trash.

It may not be enabled now, but the actual miles of this 911 are very likely to be much higher. Your friend should lawyer up. I would want more than the "word" of the seller here given that they sold the car with the device.

As a follow up to this you should know my freind is a schmuck. I went over today and what he has is a OBD splitter with a GPS tracker one of the branches of the Y and the other going down to OBD connector. One of the previous owners must have installed it to keep track of the car and never removed it. It had no sticker on it but I cracked it open and found part number. Don't know why he thought it had anything to do with mileage but I guess he was paraniod. I appreciate all the reponses on this. That's why the mileage on ECU matched the dash.
