Dashboard leather separation CPO warranty?

Dashboard leather separation CPO warranty?
I just bought 991 with CPO warranty.
Found out dashboard leather has separation on both driver and passenger side.
Dealer that sold the car is telling me its not covered. Is this true? Should I try different dealership?
dealer directed me to upholstery shop but they told me windshield needs to come out to repair the dashboard. Also they told me windshield could crack during the process so it will be better to have insurance involved.

Not surprised CPO is declining to cover. I would not want my windshield to be removed either, definitely shop around. I bet it can be done without removing it.
This is very common with Ferraris, almost every single Ferrari with leather dash will have to address leather shrinkage at some point or another .

Tell the dealer it’s a safety issue due to reflection on the windshield. If it’s a safety issue they have to fix it. If they wanna play games then touché. They should fix this especially if you just bought the car, they knew about this and covered it up.

Thanks for the replies. Im just surprised these are not covered under CPO. Looks like its common on Macans and Panameras too. Going to call around different Porsche dealerships and upholstery shops.
If not, I will try syringe/glue/touch-up method. If nothing works, i will order arcantara dash wrap to cover it up.

This very thing is happening to our 2019 X5 50i. BMW NA is involved (it's out of warranty) but they are doing a good faith assist 85%. New leather dashboard for ours is $5K plus a 3 month wait. Hopefully you can get PofNA to help! Good luck!

I recently bought a CPO 991 and the Alcantara headliner started to fall on the drive home (high speeds, windows down). By the time I had made it home, it was hanging down fully. Did not occur to me that a fun drive with windows down could cause an older headliner to fail on a cosmetically perfect low mileage car. I laughed about it to my other half (first thing I was quizzed about - you paid how much for the car with a fallen headliner - point noted). I figured it was not a new car, and this did not diminish my enthusiasm for the vehicle as I figured they'd fix it no questions asked. I was incorrect in that assumption. Same thing. Dealer said "trim isn't covered" - although in my case it was a different dealer than my CPO purchase as I'd bought out of state. Sounds similar to your determination. What really grinds my gears is ... if I had noticed it before buying the vehicle, that's an easy negotiation point to replace the headliner with new. I believe I could have gotten the dealership/sales manager/etc to agree to it.
When the dealer denied the CPO repair, I tried the safety issue conversation (a bit of b.s. but...) -- "can't see out the window it's hanging down so low blah blah". I'm 6'4 and could not see fully out the pass side window or rear technically. They didn't buy it. I bought a new headliner ($2800 ish my cost with shipping) after their much higher parts and labor quote to replace it. Still waiting on it as it's 4-6 months lead time and they said had to be manufactured in Germany. So be prepped for a long wait time on a new dash unless luckily that color combo is in stock.
Nowhere in any CPO warranty that I can find does it say "trim is not covered". What it does say is that cosmetic defects are not covered. Oh well though... other battles to fight in life.
Perhaps it helps knowing you are not alone.
Surprising because I've had other brands and they seem to look for things to replace under CPO (perhaps the dealers make money on it).
My advice: New dash from Porsche or use Exclusive Option. I would be hesitant to use a local 3rd party on the dash.

Sorry, one further point. I have a friend who has had a 991 with leather dash and now a GT3 Touring. I think he had a leather dash separation issue at one time. When I bought mine, he said "use a windshield sunshade every single time you park it outside". So I follow that advice. He was adamant and reminded me about it multiple times. All a bit dorky in the driveway, but I think it's the best way to prevent this from happening.

CPO is specifically for mechanical bits, not fit+finish.
Anything replaced under CPO that is a fit+finish item is your service advisor extending goodwill coverage.

@Jp82 Sorry to hear about this but your experience is sadly not unique.
Unfortunately the dealership has your money and doesn't give a damn about your dashboard.
How long have to have the car and what year is it?
Have you tried contacting Porsche USA. (1 800 PORSCHE)
If all else fails and depending on where you live, you might be able to find a high-end leather specialist shop that can assist.

Plan to try different dealerships, contact PCNA, talk to different upholsteries, and insurance in order.
diy repair will be my last resort.
