Real intake runner sound gets into the cabin via valved pipes. (Google: Sound Symposer). The optional Sport Exhaust is louder outside when its valves are open in Sport mode.

You are missing some digits in your description so I really don’t know your model. You are describing the Sound Symposer.

This is on my 2014 Carrera 4s Cabriolet and 2015 Targa 4s. The 2014 Cabriolet has a extra button more than the Targa with symbols of a dual exhaust on the button and is much louder than the Targa 4s. I was just wondering how much of this sound in the cabin is also heard outside if any at all.

Two fabulous cars. That symbol is for performance exhaust which I think you know of course. Step outside and listen!

the answer is yes. I shoved a microfiber rag into the Sound Symposer so that the annoying muffled roar is even more muffled. I have a PSE

The button that looks like exhaust tips opens up valves in the exhaust. This makes the exhaust note louder, which is coming from outside the car. The increase in sound you hear from inside the car is because you can hear things that are happening outside the car, it's not a synthetic thing happening through the speakers or whatever.

if you have PSE you will definitely hear the difference inside the car when sport is selected, even at idle, very much when on the throttle. the sound symposer is for the 991.2 to compensate for the lack of intake sound because of the turbos, nothing to do with exhaust sound.
