He also absolutely stressed no 8 cylinder and I asked him multiple times. We spoke of the car in terms of the 991 Cup car in relation to the 991 GT3, as I figured he's tell me more if it was within this context! When I asked him about weight loss of the "base" 991 he said 130 pounds or so with more in the GT3. I asked about through the use of stuff like on the Gt2RS and he nodded in the affirmative.

Very interesting information... Thanks for sharing rosenbergendo. Whilst some of it has been speculated for a long time, its nice to have more conclusive info on the gt cars to follow...

So I have three years ( i will buy one used and bubble wrapped ) to save up for a garage lift and another GT3.

Use my 997.1 for most DE's......and my new secrect weapon 991 to keep up with Trakcar and Erik

Or....in three years I will probably blow my car up on acciddent, send it to Sharkwerks for 3.9.....then have 991 horsepower.....then strip mine, solid mount suspension / engine, new LSD, 4.0 gearing, Motons, carbon doors / roof, full cage

Or....just buy a Fiat like Rads......that thing is fast

Either way.....I have options

no....totally different design. YEAH! the 9A1 engine sits lower in the car and has much less parts. This engine is proving to be great thus far.

Crap.....I need to work on blowing mine up sooner.

No more short shifts, I will start using the rev limiter as a shift indicator

After driving home to West Palm from Daytona I am thinking of just keeping my "old" Mezger 2010 GT3 forever and will see about adding the 2013-14 to the garage!

Could be quite a brilliant move by Porsche:

If I'm not mistaken, the 9A1 engine weighs less than the GT1 , right? And the PDK weighs more than a manual (especially more with upgraded - read heavier - "S" internals).

So consider a total engine/transmission package of roughly the same weight as the current design but with the CoG shifted measurably forward. Then slide the rear axle rearward by just a couple of inches and viola: a rear-engined car for the purists with "mid-engined" handling for the masses, and more interior room in the bargain!

Purists keep their 911, the masses get a more mainstream vehicle, and VW gets to sell more cars What's not to like?

PDK weights 66lbs more than the current 6 speed manual. However PDK makes up for it in performance. Plus the weight is low and forward so maybe not so much an issue.

Most of us could stand to lose a few pounds.....so we all have three year to start a diet

Then PDK weight is no issue
