I want to be a skeptic as I'm not planning to get a 991 in the ST. But I am not a skeptic and I think its shaping up to be pretty good. Plus none of us have driven it..

Love Gordon Robertson's videos. All 911 fans must get used to the fact that progress is inevitable. With that comes a paradigm shift for our cars. Those who have loved the 911 for it's weakness and eccentricity in it's character will no doubt be disappointed with the evolution in the water cooled line up. Porsche would much rather cater to the current crop of owners who swap cars every year or so (well I am being a little sarcastic here) given their constant need to "upgrade" to the latest and best model and go to the dealer to even swap out their wiper blades than to the pre-996 era owners who love their three pedals offset in an odd fashion to the middle, prefer the dipstick to a push of a button, do most of their valve adjustments and won't keep the cash cow ticking. Hence the 991 is what it is. As close to a "perfect" sports car (wow that Nurbugring lap time is impressive)with tons of GT cruiser like refinement infused into it's overall character.
