I think both look pretty good!

Forgive me for being a bit biased but I think the agate amber is a good interior choice as well!

That Amber leather looks beautiful. Is Amber LTS? Is it Natural (top grain) or Special (sanded and stamped grain)?

Thank you for the compliment! The Amber/Agate 2-tone combination is one of three "bi-color" interior options offered on the 981. The others being Lime-Gold/Agate and Pebble/Agate

The advantages of this option, imo, are:

1) it has a dark-coloured dashboard (Agate) to reduce reflections in the windscreen on sunny days.

2) it has deviating stitching on the dash and doors, a nice design element which is normally an expensive Z option

3) it has light colored seats and carpet to brighten and visually enlarge the small 981 interior.

4) it's a lovely colour!

It is NOT Natural Top grain leather, only the Carrera Red and Espresso options are that, but the Bicolor options are priced at the same level as the single colour Agate interior, which is deemed a "special colour". I'm assuming it is sanded and stamped grain...

Just to round off my explanation, this combination is also available in "partial leather" in which the seat inserts, instrument binnacle and door handles are in Amber leather, but the rest is covered in leatherette (a euphemism for vinyl)

Personally, I felt this was the most interesting interior option short of a LTS order, to the extent that I chose it and THEN matched an exterior colour to it! Anthracite Brown won out over Agate Grey and Dark Blue, but only after countless hours comparing pictures of various 981s from the Internet!

Your reasoning is so close to mine its almost scary! Pick your interior, then find the exterior that goes with it the best. Even with a systematic approach like that its still hard because there are so many good choices! You've done well and I hope you'll be driving it for a good, long time.

I have yet to see one in such color combo but I can imagine it being quite awesome. The red interior would compliment the anthracite the same way as the red tail lights are.

But until someone post a pic of a anthracite/red, Hankhoh's agate amber interior still reign supreme!

Hankhoh: I have taken few pictures of my anthracite but I have yet to achieve the color shown in most of your picture. What time of the day did you take these photos?

Ha ha! Thanks! Think it's a factor of quality of light. I'm practically on the equator while you are up North in Canada. Pictures I take in the morning make the car look grey, in the afternoon and evening, more brown.

Just so you have an idea what Carrera Red and Anthracite Brown looks like, here is a picture of Rolling8ball's car. He specified Carrera Red inserts on his Anthracite Brown 981:
