Thx guys, I'm quite happy how it turned out. White was not my first choice, but forced upon me by the wife. I picked the wheels ( and the rest). The combo works well, in hindsight, I couldn't be happier. But I underestimated the attention it draws in this config, impossible to sneak through the neighborhood unnoticed. Even at break in pace and noise.

omg, I myself was confronted with the same situation (12 gts or 13 991). I visually studied both cars which were parked side by side at a dealership. this is where you can see very notable differences and I hate to use this term but even the mighty 2012 gts looked in my opinion "outdated" while parked next to a 991, especially the interior. The technological updates to the 991 and looks are enough to sway me toward the new. I hope I did not offend anybody but I'm just giving my personal opinion on what I would do as I myself am excitedly about to pull the trigger on my first Porsche.

98% of the Joe public can't tell the difference between a 997 and a 991 anyway.

We can but that's because we want to.

Heck. When I pass one on the freeway at 60 mph I have to look at the back of the tail lamps to see what I passed.

What I love about Porsche cars is that they attract a wide range buyer. Someone who wants the latest and greatest can dish out the cash and get one. Another person who perhaps does not want to spend north of 6 figures can set a budget and find a spectacular porsche to fit ones budget. I do believe the 997 GTS is a special car and is the best in the 997 series. To those who have them congrats it is a gorgeous car. When I sold my 997.1 S cab I was intrigued with the advancements in the 991 so went with that-no regret love it. You cannot make a bad decision buying a new or used porsche. I love love the back end of a 997 GTS !

A little late to the party but here are my thoughts.

My GTS is up on lease in may. This is the first Porsche I am definitely seriously considering on buying off lease. This is the first Carrera out of 3 previous she wants me to keep and is actually lobbying for me to buy at end of term. I still love it as much as the day I got it.

I have no interest in a 991 over my GTS. None. The only 991 that I would give up my GTS for is the new GT3 but since I use my car as a DD I don't think the GT3 is a practical choice. Plus my buy out is $68K.

Looking at the values I think I and others are right that the GTS is likely a good bet as a classic. The values of GTS's are as high if not higher than the new and "improved" 2013 991 and 991S. At least that the way it appears to me.

I have had a number of Porsche guys come up to my car and flip over it saying "This is the Carrera to have". Seems like they already have a following with much fewer being available on the market to buy.

As was told by my dealer there were only approximately 2000 GTS's made and they represent the best of the 997 generation without entering the dedicated track models. How many 991's have they made already and will keep making???? Way more than 2000 thats for sure.
You tell me if the GTS below looks "soft and round". If you do you need glasses.

I test drove both a 2012 997 GTS and a 2012 991 Base and the latter was the easy choice for me. Like you, I never looked back. With this said, that is perhaps the nicest looking GTS I've ever seen. I am glad you are enjoying it and think you should keep it. I will look forward to hearing what you think of the 991 GTS when it emerges.
