Note the German plates on the car. The sport buckets have been available in Europe for a few months, and are selectable in the configurators for Great Britain and Germany, for example, but don't appear yet in the ones for the U.S. or Canada.

Aren't those just the 997 turbo or GT3 seats?

They are the same folding back sport buckets that were optional in the 997.2 Carrera, TT, and GT3 and standard in the GT2 and Boxster Spyder. Until recently, you couldn't get them in the 991, even in Europe.

Me too. I have them in my Carrera and am hoping that when the 991 GT3 comes out in the US they will be available here again as well.

do you love the sport bucket seats because of the weight reduction, the look, or the comfort? while they look super cool, they don't look super comfortable, not sure a widebody can fit in those. i know they have cf on the backs, which is fantastic...opinions?

In the 987/997 models, the only adjustment is fore and aft, and many find them too upright. Given the option, I would probably recline them a bit for cruising. But as they are, they are great for serious driving, the track, etc. I have a 32" waist, and they fit me perfectly. So they are definitely not for everybody, cool as they may look.

While I love them in my Spyder, I would not get them in a more GT-ish car like the 991...

For me, it's a number of things. First, they are the only current factory seat that will properly accomodate shoulder harnesses and they give great support; both important since I autocross. Unlike aftermarket "race" seats they have airbags which makes them safer for street driving and you can retain the factory belts even with a 6 point harness. I also love the way they look and the weight reduction is a bonus.

As for comfort, you're right, they aren't for widebodies, but at 6'2 195 lbs they fit me perfectly, have just the right rake and height (for me), and I find them very comfortable considering they only have fore/aft adjustment. Getting in and out takes a bit of extra effort. They aren't for everyone, but if you do fit, they are a superior seat.

great seats and worth every dime, used to be 3k extra. but they are full leather.. and full carbon.. almost 8k if ordered seperately..

downside was they hurt value on the C4S launch car because many did not want them and many dealers swapped seats to sell their 997.2 C4S launch cars (grey car)

If the new car configurator on the Porsche web site is to be believed, they aren't available in North America for the 991 at all........yet.
