remember base is not the old base, the PCM3.0 makes it the upgraded sound you would pay a couple grand for in other models.

i'd skip both and gundo hack the side mufflers. it sounded great on mine and costs $250

PSE does sound great, but very expensive.

I don't mind the base. In fact, the 991 base system sounds like my 997.2 Bose system.

My 991 Cab came off the boat on Monday and was delivered this past Friday. I decided against the Bose in favor of the PSE.

Put yourself in a closet with a decent "boom box" and you will realize that anything beyond a great stereo is truly not needed in this limited interior space.

The base stereo is great in the newer cars and IMHO is fantastic considering what it needs to do. The cubic feet of interior space is so limited that a $5k stereo seems to be overkill. Top up or down, I am more than pleased with the decision.

As far as the PSE goes. I notice it most on the burbel decel, than accel. That "burbel" is best utilized with seamless PDK downshifts and worth every penny at that point.

I spent 30 minutes at the dealership listening to both minutes before my ordering. Test drove with the bAse stereo and sounds good unless your flooring it. Sounds great while cruising and was not that big of difference to that of the bOse. The bOse is way overpriced compared to the bAse. Unless you are super picky on sound and loudness, the bAse stereo is a bit better than my 997 bOse to me. I've done several long drives out to the coast and have Pandora going, then switch it to jukebox then to my ipod on AUX and all of if is great. Fantastic PCM system and am extremely happy with the sound. Save your money and spend it somewhere else... Like espresso full leather

Had the Bose in my 997 and regret I wasted money on it. I got the base stereo in my 991, which in my opinion sounds better than 997 Bose. PSE is worth getting. Had the standard exhaust on my 997 and ended up with an aftermarket exhaust costing just as much and can't be turned off.

Agree that all of the sound options are overpriced. But for a 100k+ car, IMO the base sound system is shameful. Way to harsh on the highs and recessed in the mids. Perhaps it's tuned to the target demographic - generally the older we get the less highs we can hear. So maybe it's tuned right after all.

In any case I can barely stand to listen to music on it (talk radio is fine though). Would rather turn it off and listen to the engine than listen to music on it.

On balance though, I'd take the hit on the sound system rather than compromise the driving performance, so all is good.

Wink

PDCC ,
Bose or Burmester ? Burmester is heavier in weight and the sound is not that difference,
the Bose less expensive
is not so exciting tough, i would go for basic sound kit no optional
save the money (buy the pdcc event.)
and retrofit my own amplifiers and speakers aftermarket

I turn off the radio and play symphonies, rock and pop with the PSE. Sometimes I sing along.

I got the base and it is the best stock car stereo I've heard, with owning Lexus and BMW in the past. The bass is ample yet tight and fast (good for metal). Nothing can beat aftermarket but I've read on this forum and others the base is better than Bose with burmester being the best. This was one of the reasons I ordered and didn't buy off the lot so I could save the Bose money to add other options I really cared about.

I've listened to all 3, and while the base is decent for a stock stereo, in
no way is it as good as the BOSE (as long as you avoid satellite radio, and stick with ipod, CD's, or HD radio)
