Since the topic has gone off on a tangent I thought I'd throw this in.

About Porsche being the most profitable car company, isn't it interesting how we're always told a weak currency helps improve exports? Yet here is Porsche, based in Germany, one of the staunchest of the strong currency defenders in the world, kicking butt on car makers all around the world, and doing it on the strength of exports!

Chuck - I don't always agree with you, but can generally appreciate your point. This time however, you've gone too far and I have to point out you are wrong, plain and simple. I'm 6'2".
Enjoyed meeting you, and knowing who is behind some very entertaining rants...er..opinions. Plus your '79 is gorgeous.

Well since "Corvette" has nothing to do with "991" it was off on a tangent from the get-go!

It's a CHEVY, GM's lowest quality product label, with PLASTIC BODY PANELS and LEAF SPRING suspension.
I'll leave the "... and CHROMED PLASTIC GRILL..." for another day.

I always loved this Top Gear clip with Jeremy.
I laugh every time when he pushes on the rear bumper cover at 20 seconds in.
Classic.

But my favorite: "As something to live with every day I would rather have bird flu!"

I care much less whether the SUVs are shared platforms because they're front-engine vehicles largely aimed at families (not anything wrong with that, helps the company be more stable - though is that needed when you have other brands that can do that now?), but I hope we don't see a 911 on a common platform. People complain enough about the marketing folks messing with the Cayman's potential, imagine that getting balanced across several brands. Yikes.
But since this is a C7 thread... I'd still take that over the Chevy.
