First post! Hello + can performance exhaust be added after the fact?
Hello!
I am moving from a BMW (temporarily ) to Porsche and in that "research / obsession" phase. This site has been extremely helpful.
Does anyone know if the sports exhaust option can be added after the fact?
Story:
I test drove two cars: 991s PDK cabrio and 991 Manual 4s. I am coming from an M3 manual tranny.
This is my first Porsche experience and it was rather interesting. I was not all that excited after test driving the 4S manual. I was a bit let down as I had super high expectations going in. The car was planted firmly and was exceptional in turns, but the power wasn't there, and the engine drama was lacking. Then I test drove the PDK cabrio.
.... I was blown away.
Turns out the 991s had the sports exhaust along with chrono package and other sports options. I feel that the sports exhaust coupled with the PDK made a world of a difference. The drama was definitely there and it almost made it feel like a real sports car. I am still not sure if its the 4s vs s, or the sports options added or the PDK that made the difference, but I am 100% certain I need to get that sports exhaust option.
Unfortunately, I am looking for a car quickly (no time to order) and most of the cars I am finding don't have the sports exhaust option. Is this something that can be installed? I found one post on this forum about someone who did but wasn't completely sure. Any idea of costs?
Thanks!

It's the PSE/PDK combo that transforms the car. SportChrono you can do without as there is always regular Sport mode. Conversely, SC cannot be added later on, PSE can be !

You need the exhaust, a new button assembly and a recode;

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks the PSE is a bit weak. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good for a factory exhaust. Still, it is far from great. I couldn't imagine spending $4,000 to add it after the fact when there are much better aftermarket options. I'm guessing those that are in love with it aren't interested in modifying their cars. For me, I have never once driven with the valves closed, but I don't daily drive my car. I only got it because I wanted the X51 Powerkit and didn't have a choice. I knew I would end up with an aftermarket addition. By the way, I orderd AWE SwitchPath this week!

Burning Brakes
They are installing PSE on my car Monday April 28th. Dealer quoted me 4.5 hours @$118.00 plus $2,700.00 for the PSE kit.
Keep in mind the kit for the S is 0ver $400.00 less than the kit for the base model. Also it's 4.5 hours labour on the S to install and 8 hours on the base.
I think the S is pre-wired and some of the parts are already there. My price installed is $3,231.00 plus sales tax.

Adding a sport exhaust to the S costs less because the center muffler already has the vacuum switch and valves controlling it. The non S doesn't have that so it's a bit extra time and labor plus the vacuum valve and hoses.

Lol, my thoughts exactly. There are a few other chuckle-worthy sections of the OP's first post, too.
