Default Ceramic window tint

I Have a 14 cabriolet, the tint guy suggested tinting the entire car including the front windshield to cut down on heat build up. Is this necessary? I was planning on tinting the side windows only.

Certainly not necessary, but I did have a clear ceramic UV film put on the inside of my windshield and do notice a difference in heat build up. My car is black on black, and the sun is strong here in Colorado. The ceramic films are expensive, and it could cost $400 or so for the windshield alone. Consequently, I also put a ClearPlex protective film on the outside of my windshield to protect from stone chips and have been very happy with it as well. If you crack your windshield and have to replace it, obviously you lose your expensive ceramic film too.

I did all glass on mine including the moonroof with photosync. Expensive but worth it imo.

You picked the right window film. Spectra PhotoSync to date is the highest heat rejecting film on the market. Good to know you are happy with it.

For those not familiar with PhotoSync, it is manufactured by Prestige Film Technologies: www.prestige-films.com

Here's a test vid we conducted several years ago to show how well a much lighter Photosync would compare to a metallic limo tint:

We are based solely in Northern California. For those interested in this tint, please contact the manufacturer directly to see if there is an authorized Spectra Dealer near you: 408-657-3880

Front windshield is a huge exposed area as it relates to heat and UV. Doing a light ceramic film will help greatly with heat rejection. Choose a top-quality window film for this and seek out the best installers in your area...you look out the front windshield much more than any other window...the installation needs to be as flawless as the skill of the installer.

55% WS
45% All Others

I like lighter tint to show of the beautiful interior.

If doing again, I would do,
65% WS.
35% All others

Just to get better night visibility on the WS and darken the others to compensate for the lighter WS.

I hope to get a better installer next time. This one was not as good as others I used. He left too many bubbles. I did not want him redoing it either.
The tint works great though.

I have not worn sunglasses, since college days, LOL.
However, I can buy some polarized sunglasses and try it out.
Then I will know if my silver tach is still readable too ; )
