Drove the wonderful car yesterday with no problem. But this morning it would go dead when I stopped. It would start right back up. When I got home it went dead again and I noticed a green A with an arrow going around it on the dash board. I left the car on and looked for owners manual to define the problem. It then stared up on its on and there now was a yellow A with arrow around it but with a cross over it. I didn't drive it but it seemed to be idling better. Any ideas ? It has 9200 miles and is a 2013.

Is it the stop/start function? I've never actually used mine, but the button shows the "a" with a circle around it.

The A was down on the right side of outside temperature reading on dash

I wonder if that got put own and it was doing normal function of turning off at idle

That is exactly what it looked like but wasn't own. May have been put own accidentally. Really through me for a loop.

It through me for a loop as well right when I drove it off the lot. I didn't know the car even had the start stop function.

Sounds like you just accidentally turned the auto stop/start function back on. I just leave mine off.

That's what it is; here in England we are defaulted 'ON' so get used to it pretty quickly in traffic.

Funny thread. For those who are still clueless about this and haven't read the manual, it's the auto start function. When the car is not warmed up enough or something else is going on (like high A/C needs) the symbol with a cross through it will show up to indicate that yes, the car would like to do the auto start thing but can't right now.

Yes that is exactly what happened. It had been sitting in sun all day , which uncommon. It was hot and auto stop start was functioning. Fell foolish but worried me. Thnx for the help.

OP: Since you're unfamiliar with auto stop/start, here's another feature. If you have it turned on and are driving along - and lift your foot to coast - it will drop down to idle. The moment you give it any gas it will spin back up to the appropriate rpm level. I think Porsche calls the feature "sailing." It's another gas saver. My daily return home (50 mile drive) includes a 10 mile downhill stretch, steep enough to coast practically all the way. The engine is at idle the whole time unless I need to accelerate. Just another trick in an effort to improve gas mileage figures to make the government happy.
