Default GT Silver sitting by Rhodium in soft light

I pulled up to the dealer this afternoon and was struck by these two sitting out front. The photo shows the direction of the difference but not quite the degree -- in real life the Rhodium was slightly more blue, the GT slightly more brown, and the difference a little more pronounced. But this gives a good idea anyway.

If mine ever gets here it will be my second GT Silver -- I'm biased. I like Rhodium very much in a vacuum, but when they're side by side my taste runs to the richer, warmer GT. But I can sure understand how a person would buy a Rhodium GTS! That is a striking car sitting there.

LOL, you could be right -- I didn't check, just asked a salesman and he said it was GT. The GTS was definitely Rhodium as I looked at the sticker to confirm.

If consensus is that it's not GT S, I'll take my whipping like a man. But in person, having owned a GT Silver car, I sure thought it was. But it's been two years since I sold mine; maybe my mind is playing tricks.

That is no GT Silver. I bet my GTS in GT Silver on it

What model year was the base 991 thought to be GT Silver?

Looks like Platinum to me too. Great color. A nice taupey silver.

Platinum is not available after 2013 unles PTS. Rhodium is a pretty color but I don't think it is represented here. I'm Guessing that base 991 is a '13! I will add that I like my car a lot, but silver is the most common color of all cars in the USA. I wish I had picked a blue, red, or even white 991. That almost sounds American!

The "Classic Silver" offered on the Cayenne and not sure what other models is nice. More a standard silver without anything weird in it, but attractive.

Rhodium is too blue. A trendy color that won't last. Not a fan.

GT Silver - a classic and will grace Porsche's for a long time.

Always hard with pics -- but that sure looks Platinum. Especially with your description of "brown".

That "brown" hue BTW, cost me several thousand dollars as the better half didn't like it. All good though since I love my GT Silver.

That warmer color really looks like Platinum silver to me.

Yeah, that is platinum silver IMO.

If I was to pick any Porsche Silver, it would be PTS Polar Silver,....if I couldn't get that I wouldn't pick silver.

Rhodium Silver (RS) is a really unique color. When I shopped for my 991, I considered RS. When I went to the dealer to order my new car, they had a RS colored 991 parked outside. It was a very sunny day, and I thought the RS faded, and looked washed out. I was very disappointed in the color when seen under direct sunlight.
Looking at the color today, I almost regret not sticking with my first color choice. I now love RS. It changes colors based on the lighting conditions. I like the blue in RS. That 991 in the above pic looks great with black rims and black lights!
Doesn't Polar Silver also have a blue hue to it?

Cheers/B

Yes, Polar was very blue-ish. Arctic was extremely neutral (like metal somehow). GT leans more to the brown side.

Platinum =champagne
Rhodium = light blue

I'd love to see a pure, cold and shiny silver in the std color pallete.
They need to bring ARTIC silver back. best silver IMO.

I have to disagree. I concurrently owned an arctic turbo and a GT silver Boxster. I loved to park them together and get opinions from people. 100% of the response across the line over the years was pro GT silver.

But I will agree that Arctic as a free, basic color makes a good choice. It really is just pure silver seeming, and doesn't seem to lean to either side of the blue brown spectrum.
