My GTS needs a new engine after only 2,300 km
I just did ED on a 2016 GTS. I followed all the brake-in procedures as recommended by my delivery specialist. After 2,300 km I'm driving on the Autobahn and I floor it at around 170 kph. The car accelerates normally and shifts in automatic mode close to redline. This shift felt different, I felt a little jolt. Immediately after this, the engine fault message and PCM fault message flash on the screen and the "reduced power" message appears. The car looses power and the engine starts to make a strange, mechanical noise. I leave the highway within one mile (there is a rest area right there) and turn the car off. I called Roadside assistance and the car was taken to a dealership near by on a flatbed. They put me up in a rental and fly back to the US two days later. I got a message from Porsche after I came back to the US saying the engine was damaged and the car needs a new engine. It will be replaced at the dealership in Germany. Other than that, my ED experience was great...

would be good to know what the failure was ... after all it only took 2 GT3 engine fires to recall the entire production.

Wow. I don't know but if I was in your shoes I may fight for a new car and free ED.

Wow. Sorry to hear. Sux. I agree, would like to know what the actual cause of the catastrophic engine failure was.

That blows! At least you still had a great ED experience. Which dealership did you go to?
I had a minor issue that required a replacement of a spring on my drivers brake caliper.
My delivery concierge arranged the appointment for me in Augsburg. My service advisor was waiting for me to arrive. It was diagnosed, and repaired, within 30 minutes. Upon my departure, the SA asked which direction I was heading, and it turned out that I was going to drive right past the area where RUF is located. The SA made a quick call, and I met Mr. RUF and his son, Marcel. Great unplanned experience.

That's very unfortunate. You'll be fixed up and ready to go again soon. Would like to know what the fault was. Stuff happens. One in a thousand. Sucks to be that one.

If the engine was going to be replaced anywhere, you can't ask for better than the factory itself. If it happened to me stateside I'd probably be pushing for them to give me a new car but heck, they put engines in these cars all day long at the factory, so to me that's good enough.
