Default What is the current state of the 'engine stumble' issue?

Can anyone summarize? I had forgotten about it but saw that the thread is still going strong on the other P site. People were talking about a multitude of fixes meaning to me that no one knows. Is anyone experiencing this with newer cars? I thought I better go drive mine today and pay close attention!

There is a huge thread on 6speedonline. As far as I know there still isn't a resolution (or even an admission by Porsche). Mine does it: 2014 Carrera S.

A hesitation between 2500 and 3000 rpm. Most likely suspect is something to do with the variocam transition. It feel almost as if the engine "clears its throat". Above 3000 my car is very smooth.

I wonder if any of the X51s exhibit this problem or not?

I used to think not but probably the most famous 991 of all (other than yours Larry) owned by a guy with the avatar Money356, or something like that, on these boards had a beautiful white 991S w X51 that developed it at 4K miles. He dumped it for a GT3 I think. So it appears no one is immune hence my paranoia

Had it, subsided for a while after an update, but now it is back, though less noticeable than before. Likely a side effect of some other trade off the engineers made that is worse. Doesn't bother me too much....currently...

Interestingly, I believe this is a wider issue that just the 9A1 engine.

In addition to my 4S, my Macan Turbo also suffers from the same issue, as did my MacanS before that. So I support the idea that it is in someway related to the Variocam system even though the Variocam systems are different on each of these engine configurations. And even though it is only mildly annoying to me, I would really like to know what causes it.

I had this issue as well along with a PDK shifting delay. Took it in. They reset the PDK and it fixed the problem. Almost at 2k miles and she's running better than ever.

I have the hesitation from start with no resolution, nothing at 2500-3000 rpm. Hoping someone comes up with a resolution to these.

I have an early X51 (January '13 production) and don't have it. Now have 14k miles on it.
