Default Don't judge - Painters Tape Bra?

I'm taking a ~600 mile road trip this weekend and don't have time to take my new-to-me C2S in for XPEL.

Has anyone tried using 3M blue painters tape as a temporary bra? I just want to avoid paint chips, but don't want to damage my paint.

I drove mine home 100 miles from the dealer with this awesome bra!

At the dealer. I'm told I wasn't the first.

On the road.

Safe at home.

Took longer to install than it did to remove! Are these re-usable???

Member Money2536 used painters tape for a road trip... can't recall if posted any pictures here but I think he probably posted a video on his YouTube channel.

Also, consider the spray-on type shielding as well. You basically can coat the front end and then peel it off. Putting it on might be faster than strips of tape, but might be more difficult to remove (all depends on how thick you spray it on). Put it on thick and you have a barrier that may protect more than the tape does. You can even coat the wheels....

Wonderful, thanks for the sanity check. Brad, I can't tell from your pics - did they tape up your rear panels?

Have you considered something like the 3M spray-on protective film?

There is no way I'd use that spray gunk - good luck getting it off.

I bought XPel TracWrap for the time between delivery and permanent clear bra, but never got around to outing it on. Could be an alternative for some.

Try to find racers tape in a color that's less obvious. Attract less attention that way.

A guy from Alaska drove an old 911 from Alaska to French Lick, IN for Porsche Parade last June with painter's tape on it.

That guy has never bought a set of tires for his car! He wins the long distance award every year,at Parade, which happens to be a new set of tires.

You could also use plasti dip. You can get it in clear, or just do black. Spray 5 heavy coats and it peals right off. It is also way cheaper than the 3m kit.
