Steering column in leather
Anyone have pics of the steering column in leather? Anyone do a replacement of the plastic column pieces with the leather ones after delivery (i.e. Not factory installed?)
Thanks!
Thanks!

Jerry, if you google ‘Porsche 911 exclusive/leather’ you can see some pictures of how the Porsche factory do up and stitch the leather covered column pieces. There is a German company “Exclusiveoption.com who do bespoke leather for Porsche and will send you any piece in matching factory leather color and style, ready to bolt on. Almost every large city has at least one auto upholstery shop who may be able to match the leather color of your car and will do an install.
However, why? a 911, big fat A$$ and all, is still a pretty capable sports car and as such it doesn’t need more heavy sound dampening, more cup holders, or any more leather bits. “Less is more”. If you persist in this fetish and go all the way to the Porsche available leather covered air vent slats, I will be forced to think somewhat less of you.

This is my car. They used the wrong color stitching but it has been replaced with the correct color. Everyone has their own opinion and taste. I think something would be missing if it didn't match the other leather parts. On the other hand, I did carbon fiber trim instead of leather because I thought it would be too much leather.
These are old photos. I don't have only 26 miles on the car.

It's a sports car with optional luxurious appointments. The 911 can be optioned in many character roles. Boulevard cruiser to performance optioned bat out of hell. Or a combination of both

Amazing, I've never heard of this company. Great (and costly $$$$) lead for some. Thanks

Worth it if part of a deviated stitching look. Very nice there. Plus, if you wrap your hands around the wheel forward, you're touching leather.
Had it on my TT and liked it a lot. Didn't order it with the Boxster since I went with a regular black leather interior under DBM and wanted to keep the interior plain-ish.

Had it on my previous TT and, frankly, never noticed it. That car had leather everywhere they'd put it -- air vents, console bit around the stereo and HVAC controls, even the instrument panel under the plastic, surrounding all the gauges. I bought used and didn't mind it but would never have spec'd it.

I replaced my plastic pieces with factory leather wrapped. I love it. It was expensive. If i were to do it again, I might go to a local leather guy and save $700.00....

Looks very nice, especially with the deviated stitch. I'll order this someday on my next Porsche.

I went whole hog on clicking the option boxes for alcantata and leather. In part, because it looks so damn cool. I love these details on my 993TT -- every interior inch is leather covered including the pull buttons -- and I vowed to do this when I spec'd my first new Porsche.
The other reason I'm paying through the nose on these high priced options is because I don't want to see plastic.

It's really too bad that Porsche doesn't voluntarily include a lot of non plastic trim on cars that cost big $$$ to start. You have cars that cost half the price that have more standard upgraded finishes than Porsche.
