Convertible top wear

Stevekish1, I'd definitely be interested. I got the exact same run around and answers from Porsche North America. Funny, when I talked to people in person at the factory in Stuttgart and showed them pics on my phone, they said that should not happen (and we even walked through their garage and looked at 2013 + 14 cabs, none of which have the wear you and I have. Unfortunately, they said they couldn't do anything and Porsche N.A. is the sole answer.
Anyone interested in seeking recompense for a cabriolet top issue, let me know please. There would be no cost, and nothing to lose. Everything to gain for Porsche not honoring a valid warranty issue. The more involved the more likely of a positive outcome. They can’t get away with claiming wear and tear as cause when it is their poor design that rubs and erodes the canvas tops. Thank you!!

Much better! When I took my cover off yesterday before taking a drive I thought about you since my top was worse than yours - the new cover is excellent but it sure leaves a lot of lint behind.

Any members of this forum with 911 cab top warranty coverage refusal problems?

Anyone interested in getting remedy for their damaged top??

To get everyone's attention start a new thread and title it something like: ATTN: Cab Owners - Potential class action lawsuit (top)

chance that anything will ever come from going down the legal path. Don’t get me wrong, I find this to be an annoying issue too, but I have zero hopes that Porsche will pay a penny.
I am more interested in hearing what independent shops can do and what they charge.

Auto manufactueres have dealt with cosmetic issues in the past. BMW had paint issues several yrs ago; Tesla as well. I think the cost for Porsche to defend such an action would far outweigh the approx $6k cost to replace each top (and the real cost to them would be even less).
And isn't there always an atty who will take any case?

Unless there is a safety issue or degrading performance, which there is not - looks all like cosmetic issues to me - I believe there is a zero

It's a matter of care. Obviously these canvas tops rub as they fold. And it's best to store with the top UP to minimize creases. But then you don't want to operate it too often because that induces wear. It's up to each owner to balance these factors. Every time you pull into the garage, you need to make a choice. The top, being just a textile product with limitations, is not NOT going to suffer.
Mine has a little wear and it has creases. But I have ownned ragtops in the past so I sort of know what to expect
