Early 991 issues?
I'll apologize in advance. I've searched and can't find any good threads on early 991 issues.
I've had 15 911's of all kinds but sold my last about 5 years ago so I've become out of touch. Over all of them, the two favorites I've owned which I really regret selling were an '84 Carrera and a '97 Turbo. Just great honest cars.
So I'm looking for one that mimics some of that and keep ending up with 2012 991's 2wd with a manual. A good chunk of the depreciation is out and I've been able to find some with a manual which is a must.
With that said, are there reasons to stay away from the first year 991? It seems like they have a very good history. Thanks in advance.

I got my 2012.5 C2S the week they were launched. Apart from a bunch of factory campaigns in the first year, replacement of 7 "changeover valves" and a fix of a rattlle behind a door card, it has been in for only routine scheduled service in neary 5 years and 36k miles. Just runs better and better!
That said there have been issues for some including an Nick's lemon, some with electrical and PDK problems (reported here) and complaints about rattling trim. But by now all that small stuff should have been resolved.

991.1's have been near bulletproof right out of the gate. I'd be confident in a 2012.5-2016. Obviously better deals with the older years for the same thing.

I had a 2012.5 C2S for two years (it was 2 years old with 7k miles when I bought it - traded it in two years later with 19k miles on it). Had the typical changeover value problems (heater, PSE), one engine exhaust fan failure, all fixed under warranty. The last 18 months I had it, it was problem free. I would not hesitate on a well-maintained 2012.5.

I love this car so much!

2012.5 no issues for 5k miles except rattling interior which can be fixed.
