Default 992 Sports Classic

Hi All,

I heard this is comong soon. Can some light be shed on:

1) NA or Turbo?
2) If NA are we talking Gt3 4.0 or a lesser engine and if turbo we talking Turbo S performance?
3) Limited production car?

Finally. Our Sport Classic (869) is in our garage and we had a nice drive on familiar roads with our local PCA region. The drive wasn’t a great sample of what the car is like on my favorite familiar roads, as the tour was big and the pace was measured. In any event, it still doesn’t seem real that this car is in my garage. And however measured the pace of the tour today, our Sport Classic was a fantastic traveling companion. Passing capabilities at speed are, uh, significant.

I assumed it’s turbo based and a little more than the Turbo S, like the 991 Turbo S exclusive. Then again, I’m just assuming.

If it performs better than the Turbo S, is retro styled and is limited, that's quite cool.

Agree, will be more expensive than the Turbo S and more a collectible as per the Exclusive Turbo S. Will look good though.

A GT3 engine with ducktail and bespoke paint/interior would be a special offering. The 997 SC did not make it to the US and I believe there were only 250 worldwide so I assume the 992 will not follow that closely in the 997 SC path. Also the 997 SC came out of Exclusive not Motorsport.

Exactly, wishful thinking on my part. Considering g its timing alongside the gt3 and gt3 touring I thought it was a possibility.

I think the 997 SC had a 3.8 engine and GTS-similar output? Going higher than Turbo S would be quite a jump. I was figuring it would be a sauced up GTS-type.

that wouldn't be of interest to me.

Turbo s performance or even better the 4.0 would be very interesting.

Don’t be surprised if it’s a manual.

Similar to a GT2 RS Touring?

Interesting, begs the following questions,
Which transmission would they be using?
Does the 6 speed have a high enough torque rating to handle a turbo engine?
Or would it have to use the 7 speed trans found in the S?
And can the 7 speed manual deal with Turbo S levels of torque, or are we looking at something more like a GTS variant?
Obviously time will tell, and being a manual certainly makes it more desirable to many enthusiasts.

If necessary, they could use the manual gearbox from the 997 GT2 RS.
