The new Z06 is going to stomp on almost everything at the track. Especially if Chevy gets aggressive with the production version rear wing like Porsche is seemingly doing with the 992 RS. Nothing will compare to the RS driving experience though.

-precision?
-rear engine dynamics ?
-sound?
-steering feel?
This corvette might feel really good on track in many respects.. it shouldn't be a blunt instrument like maybe a Viper does.

I realize these are all subjective statements but I'm curious what you mean? Nothing compares to the RS in terms of what?

It's possible that this z06 could surprise everyone though. You can't change visibility of course, but there could be driveability areas like steering feel, or simply just dynamics like handling at the limit which make the z06 superior. I'm just saying we shouldn't hold Porsche as a sacred cow, GM has put a lot of money into getting its new car right. If you just look at their blackwing CT5 how it compares favorably to a bmw competitor now.. there are precedents. One example is suspension, where z06 will have the magnetorhological dampers vs more conventional ones on GT3RS... that alone could make a big difference?

It just doesn’t matter how fast the Z06 will be on the ring. The problem is that it won’t stay together if driven hard by the owner (my experience with the C7 Z06). And GM mechanics don’t know how to fix the issues that will arise. So unless you plan to treat the car as a garage queen, don’t buy. And if you treat as a garage queen, it doesn’t matter how fast it is around the ring.

What makes this time any different? Is it because the C8 is now mid-engined? Maybe, but I don't think it's a slam dunk by any means.

^OMG a lot of 'Porsche can do no wrong and will always be the best no matter what' fan boys here. How you can make definitive statements about a car that is not out yet is beyond me. Plus, as a C7 Grandsport owner for a year, I can say it certainly compared favorably to my GT3's in driving dynamics on the street. But who knows how the new Z06 will compare, it might just reset the bar...

Z06 sounds great. No doubt it'll be a solid performer.
Manthey driver was pushing it. Don't know what was worse, the piggish SUV's or the butt fugly BMW's. Whoever designed that front end should be banned from the auto industry for life.
