Because roof panel is so thin. This setup solid.

Side benefits — lower down for easy lift on and off, and pedals don’t touch anything.

Did this setup straight out of factory at Zuffenhausen— Autobahn tested. :-)

(No wrap on that car.)

Turns out this is the only way I can mount my bike. There is not enough room to use the wing, not to mention there is no flat surface on the wing. So this means I'm just doing 19" of PPF on the roof.

You worried about mounting the fork mount on the glass? If so, you try flipping the mount around, so the dual cups are in the rear, and the single cup is in the front?

Looking good. Love the color. We need pics with bike, too.
FWIW I was concerned about wing curvature at first, too. Never had one let go in 4 years on wing.

You can't mount in reverse according to seasucker. Fork in front, wheel in rear.

Even if could do that, I need 49" from the fork mount to the tire mount, and it's about 45-46" max from top of glass to end of the usable wing surface. The bike I typically ride in Austin is a Ripmo V2. My other bike, a Ripley V4, is 47". Bikes seem to be just getting longer with every iteration.

Yes, my Epic hangs off rear mount just a bit, but not enough to touch wing. That is of course an XC bike, so not as slack geo.
For amusement, the old gal does it, too:

No, I meant spinning the fork mount orientation around...single cup towards front of car, dual cups in the rear. That way if the wheel mount is on the wing, effectively moving the front mount rearwards, you don't have a suction cup on the window, and the dual cups on the roof.

WOW! What a great setup! Thank you for the inspiration. Is it possible to place 3 bikes in the same way?
Cheers!

I have the same seasucker mount and I would be very careful mounting this on the light weight glass of the 992 GT3. I have yet to try it on mine. Works great on my Carrera though.

See this thread if you haven't already. https://rennlist.com/forums/992-gt3-...ter-panel.html

Handlebars need to be offset, or they will start to bump. Limitation is, as Subshooter says, only mounting surfaces. I did this on GT3 because roof panel very thin. This of course not the 992 lw glass.

Roof works perfectly fine as long as it’s not wrapped. Front goes next to the windshield edge and back on the rear window.

Has anyone tried to to fit a bike into the space where the rear seats go? I assume wheels off etc...

I'd like to take a road or hardtail to events.

I Used to fit a a 50 cm road frame (both wheels off) in the back of a 996 gt3. Depending on frame size and bucket v sofa, I’m sure it can be done in a pinch but not ideal.

A couple of weeks ago, I had to put my Cervello P5X in the front seat of my Carrera following a ride after I dropped my Seasucker bolt in a storm drain. It worked. Luckily I had a sheet and some towels to protect the leather. I couldn't fit it in the back. No chance if you have LWBS in a GT3 anyway.
