992 GT3 impressions
MT GT3 arrived the other day and having had several prior models I'll share impressions FWiW:
1. MT is perfect, shift and clutch
2. Steering is even better than 911R which was close to perfect; you could argue it's almost too surgical, but you have road feel and instant turn even if feeling a bit "simulated"
3. Front end - tires stay on the ground like nothing before, can't imaging going back to struts
4. Under-steer vs. prior gens is fixed, car WANTS to rotate, love it!
5. Engine sound, much better than Speedster which the engine is claimed to be derived from, but I miss the manic, crazed sound of the 991 gen motors, esp RS; no longer miss the Metzger drone and rasp, but a reasonable compromise here and when it has miles will see how it sounds in the upper revs
6. One big disappointment is revving: can't describe the 1967 991S free rev, the 2011 GT3 RS single mass fly wheel was almost as good, this engine is unfortunately slower to reve from idle, may be great in the upper range, maybe this will be addressed for the 992 GT3RS
7. Car feels really light, it's hard to describe how/why but it is impressive how light it feels
So, really this car is close to perfect, I'm lucky to have one.

Agree on all points so far except maybe the revving thing. The throttle response was super sharp in the 991.2 and it is equally sharp (or sharper) here with the individual throttle bodies. I think there may be a subjective sense of slower revs because the sound is more bassy (agree less metallic rip) and that makes it seem to your brain like it takes more time to rev. The caveat is of course NOT if you're comparing to the single mass flywheel cars. Those definitely rev faster!
