My car goes in 11/11 for the replacement driver's door glass. Porsche is allegedly covering it per my service writer.

Was the light weight glass an 'option' ? Are they avoiding it for the GT3 RS ??

That was the feeling I had. That it almost got "stuck" on the door frame. Kind of like the window didn't go down before it allowed me to open the door. It all happened so fast. It's not like I am usually "thinking" before opening a door. FWIW, I got a call today from PCNA and they are "researching" my request. They were very pleasant on the phone so far.

I slapped a small piece of vinyl on the outside of my glass so I didn't have to see it every time I walked up to my car.

I was warned not to close via the glass at PECLA. Causes flex on closing which leads to contact - so I was informed.

haha. It’s a tad less triggering as I can put a little more elbow grease into it when wiping.
it’s like when closing the frunk I always use the emblem.
I still haven’t removed the plastic from my pcm. It’s the little things. 😄
yet I’ll turn off the Nannie’s and pull out sideways like a hoon.
figured the glass thing is bound to happen at some point. 🤷🏽♂️

The rear side glass is a whole different story.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. First dealer refused warranty claim, PCNA said they were powerless to override it. Went to second dealership and in 5 minutes, they said it would be covered under warranty. Don't lose hope and don't accept no. Go elsewhere.

But wow, what a crappy customer experience Porsche tolerates.
They just sent me a survey touting how committed they are to the customer experience - as they should be. Funny to me, as there are so many points of failure they clearly can’t be trying very hard.

My dealer is replacing my back glass now.
This glass is going to cost PCNA a fortune.

I noticed that on the drivers side the gap between the two windows is a lot smaller than the passenger side. Not sure if incidental contact is causing the cracks

yes, most likely glass on glass contact. If you close the door very slowly you might be able to observe the contact before the window automatically pops up into the door closed position. Normal clearance should be 8-10mm. If its around 5mm or less the panes will contact.
