You can be surprised then. How many 3RSs have you seen taken apart in the US getting ready for goodies? I could post pics, but they are not mine to share.
I've seen pics from at least one US spec 3RS with OEM headers removed in preparation for replacement, and they had the OPF. I have not taken my exhaust apart and don't intend to for a while - going to drive the car as is and decide later. Anyway, not sure what to make of the conflicting evidence here - if you've indeed seen OEM headers without OPF material, the inconsistency in US spec cars doesn't make sense...
GT3 header on Soul website. (That looks very different than what I saw. There is about 3-4" deeper starting point for the material that's in there on the RS header I saw on a bench for a car here in Austin. Hard to say if it's OPF or catalytic matrix.

the driver-side headers are deeper indeed which might be the side you had your eyes on.
My guess is you saw the black one? We're still waiting on the exhaust (in transit) before beginning mine (white/green). Thank you regardless :-)
Ah yes, the black one is the one I'm referring to in this thread, but I also saw pics of your tribute - killer spec! I took delivery of the Shark Blue car back in April.
