If anything I think this speaks to how amazing the GT3 is. Sure its ~350 lbs lighter but being that close in lap time with a car thats got 165 more HP, 120 more TQ and a bigger tire is impressive.

The GT3 is a beast.

I’ve really got myself wondering about buying one. No I will never go through the ridiculous and humbling process of trying to get an allocation and waiting years. I would probably just get a low mileage preowned one. But raw beast

I respect the Z06 but a Corvette just will never be my thing

Well done both!!

Money aside, I’ll take the Porsche. Turbo S of course with C2R’s though

The z06 is dominant for half the price. Wild.

Waiting to see actual durability. The C8 Z51 is not. Runs hot, limp mode for no reason....

And then there is the freaking engine noise shaped through the audio system on the Z06.....fail whale.....wow that's disappointing. Most things on that car are misguided (brake by wire, steering, chassis isolation....), but the one thing....the one thing they had was the engine, and they fake it. WTF.

They don't fake it, it's tuned to cancel out unwanted frequencies.

At the current starting price of $200k for a GT3 before Options, ADM and taxes.....the Z06 is way more attainable especially as supply chain bottlenecks start easing.

Considering the economies of scale with GM, parts will be a fraction of the cost of a GT car...

That by my definition is faking it. They are noise shaping.

The cost doesn't really matter if the car does not have the durability to be used as a track car (if that's what we're talking about). I'm not saying it will have problems, but the C8 is not off to a good start.

I'm not going to bash the C8 simply considering they produce them in much greater numbers so naturally the data points are more substantial with respect to teething issues.

With respect to the C8 Z06 - outside of very few initial motor out issues - fair to say it's quite reliable. Lots of C8 Z06 owners tracking them with no issues. The GT3 is not without it's fair share of issues as you can see on RL - (Engine Failures, Glass cracks etc...)

They said the replacement carbon ceramic rotors cost well over $20k for the Z06. That is disappointing (GM used to have better prices for those on other models).

While it may be an isolated incident, after watching a new Vette catch fire and burn up at the track, it would be a tough sell. There are many impressive things with the mid-engined Vette - on track it truly feels much lighter than it is, rotates well, etc; hope these issues (isolated or not) get resolved quickly. While I remain a GT4 driver, I would love a chance to track a new Z06 (wearing a fire suit, etc). It seems many high performance cars have a weak link and Porsche is definitely not immune; in general though, P-cars by and large hold up pretty well as track cars. Time to stop talking and start driving.

Incredible video. Performance aside, the Z06 is hideous.

Never hurt Porsche with the 991.1 GT3.
