What Cars Would You Choose Over a GT Porsche?
Hi All,
With Porsche's pricing on the rise, especially for its top tier products, pricing starts to reach the levels of other interesting cars.
For example, in my market, an optioned 911 ST at msrp costs the same as an almost new 765LT. A 3RS at msrp costs the same as an almost new 812SF. This is ignoring any additional value on the 2nd hand market.
Please share your thoughts on the subject and driving experiences with other brands vs your Porsche GT cars.
Thanks and let's enjoy an fun exchange of opinions.

Owned multiple different exotics and driven many but I always come back to GT cars due to their serviceability, durability and being NA. Other exotics will feel great for a while but with time you start to realize in order to achieve a certain design or performance level you have to sacrifice serviceability/durability to achieve it. IMO Porsche thought this through and decided to make their cars at a sweet spot.
Some thoughts on the discussed cars...
Speciale: Amazing powertrain but thats pretty much it. On track, the car doesn't have the dynamic sophistication of the new cars and in stock form the exhaust is actually muted, even more quiet than Pista inside cabin. Once you hop onto any new generation exotic the Speciale will feel very slow...time has moved on. For 100% street use though, it might be the best car, not many cars that has 600hp NA engine and weigh under 3200lb.
Pista: IMO most disconnected car of the bunch in terms of steering and chassis feel, but it's very fast and is way better dynamically than a Speciale, the brakes is the weak point of the car and won't last during a track day. 2 friends of mine fried their rotors and pads within a few track days. (Cost 30k+ usd to replace and now they both drive GT4RS for track)
600LT/765LT/675LT: Best "qualifying" track car ever built before going to hypercar territory. The 765LT on fast tracks will annihilate everything in its way, Pista won't even know where it went after 3-4 laps. It's the most engaging chassis in the modern generation, 800hp at your disposable, violent ignition cut gear shifts and chassis precision on par with any GT car. The only problems is the durability and front end grip (lack front tires). Even if you change rotors and swap better quality fluids, the car is not designed to lap all day on track. The car is built light (under 3000lb), which sacrifices extra cooling to save weight, noisy interior and panel gaps due to lighter panels, tires wear very quickly due to the power, at any hot summer day the car will overheat or will throw some sort of warning light to protect the drivetrain. It won't lap all day like a GT3, as it made sacrifices to go faster.
STO: Very exciting powertrain and the V10 is to die for. But dynamically out of the box it still understeers very badly and the brakes aside being powerful lacks the intuitiveness. After driving GT cars, Mclarens and Ferraris, it will feel heavy, but in isolation its not so bad. End of the day it is still based on a Huracan IMO and it has more style over driving.
To conclude, each manufacture makes good cars but for street and track car, nothing beats Porsche for their durability and serviceability, if you are on a tight track with proper tires, 992 GT3/RS will be faster than all these track focused exotics. If there are no Porsches to buy, 765LT will be the next best car.
Side note, just drove this bad boy few days ago, it's too heavy and big for my taste but the car is so fast in a straight line it's pretty mind blowing for a NA V12, made my 600LT feel like a civic. On the street, 9500 rpm takes forever to achieve just like GT3...

Used Speciale or Pista, maybe a Hurcan STO.

I’m really looking at the 765LT or Pista.. especially after the road/track trip I did in my 992 RS. It just feels slow and boring in the straight line.
The RS is ridiculously fast in lap times and easy to drive, but I had much more fun in my 600LT on track even though I was a bit slower than in the RS.
Really interested in the Pista especially on track, maybe some fellow members could give inputs?
Regarding the 812 - I drove one for a few days and didn’t like it at all. I felt very disconnected with the car and it didn’t feel “gathered” at all if you know what I mean… it looks and sounds really good though..

To be perfectly honest. Nothing at all. I only want manual sports cars and if I’m in the market for one, unfortunately Porsche is it. Now with that being said, my RS is being build next month and that’s a PDK, but there will always be a manual GT3 in my garage.
If BMW made the new CS in a manual or even continued with the SMG, I’d probably consider that. The 5 is too big for me, I’ve got a Cayenne Turbo to haul stuff around. The GT3 just makes the most sense for what I want.

Samezies. Give me a manual all day. Exotics like Mac, Ferrari or Lambo aren’t my style. I found my lane. I intend to stay in it.
I’m completely content in a 911

Wouldn't really call myself a Mclaren guy over a Porsche guy but given they're the same money, 765LT (and Pista) over 992 GT3 RS and/or 675LT spider over the 992 GT3 for same money. If the 600LT spider continues to depreciate and comes into the range of 991.2 GT3s, then probably that as well. That's just purely from a value proposition perspective, I understand some people can afford to shop without the concept of 'value' and so will pay up for the new / hyped toy vs yesterday's supercar.

Speciale or 765.

I like the look of the Ferraris over the 765 and 675, it's more elegant and sexy in a refined way plus Ferraris have a better reputation when it comes to build quality. Plus I've wanted to scratch the Ferrari itch for a few years now and if I don't get a 992.1 GT3RS then I'll probably pick one up next year. If I don't end up liking the car it'll be easy to sell without much of a loss too.

I have a few cars that I have considered but never actually gotten further than a conversation because I always go back for Porsche keys:
- Urus - as something more daily but then then new TGT is better in most aspects so would probably go to the MY24 TGT
- F12 - the motor and aesthetics but wonder if it will be too much of grand touring car and wanting more track from it
- 488 GTB - better aesthetics than the 458
- 675LT - for several reasons but the maintenance concerns me and serviceability around my location
Ill wait until my GT3 RS is here as with others have one being produced when the factory opens back up, Ill trade my GT3 out for that and see if there is a need to look at anything beyond that.
