Default Aftermarket Exhaust Options

Wanted to rehash this topic a bit. Upon a quick search there was a thread that discussed doptions for the GT3 but this was fairly preliminary upon the initial release of the 992 GT3.

What have you all done on your cars? Kept stock? Any good aftermarket options that allow you to stay valved, and also no CEL?

Lots of opinions and dozens of choices out there. I went down the rabbit hole of different exhausts on my 991.2 and was never completely satisfied. First one just wasn’t loud enough, second was way too loud and third one introduced an annoying drone.

I decided to leave my 992 GT3 stock and have no regrets. It sounds good and I’m more focused on driving the car now than obsessing over the volume or tone of the exhaust. Good luck with whatever you decide. 👍

Id only consider JCR or Dundon. No CEL with either.

It does seem like the OPF's prevent clarity of the exhaust sound. I'd love to take them out but I don't want my warranty to be put into question in any way, which is also why I don't want to do headers with higher flow cats. But is a catback after market exhaust worth it if you don't take the OPF's out? That's where I am right now.

OPF delete + JCR valveless FTW!!

1. OpF delete will do nothing to your warranty. It’s unmonitored dummy ceramica. I just went to do my 1 yr service and had 3 warranty items looked at… they had no idea I chiseled out the opf nor would they probably care.

2. catback w/o opf delete won’t get you much gain. I’ve heard a few cat back systems w/ opf still in there and it was meh

OP - stock Exhaust is a Dyson vacuum, i deleted OPF and put in JCR valveless catback and it made me want to drive the car even more!!

I’ve heard JCR, Dundon (SS and TI), GMG and Fabspeed… all have various sounds and price points and weights. In general TI will give you a lighter weight / higher pitch (F1) sounds… SS will be deeper

good luck in your search! But please do your car a service and delete the OPF and let it breath w/o the Greta mouthpiece

@JCR-Porsche

Our best selling combination or full setup is Akrapovic and Soul Performance. Clients are very pleased with these setups.

Happy to share with you our option.....here is a sound clip that was taken a few weeks ago at Thermal as I was testing the setup on the car, etc.... GMG racing system, including valves and no CEL.

One additional point to keep in mind should you decide to retain the OEM exhaust system. The car becomes progressively louder the more the throttle pedal is depressed and it becomes quieter as the pedal is released. This is a standard feature on the GT3 model and requires no adjustment of the drive mode selector or menu to select in the PCM.

From what I'm gathering here, I can actually just remove the OPF and receive an automatic upgrade on the exhaust note without having to spend a time. Only question is if the warranty will stay intact, which I cant imagine why it wouldnt.

I believe @PTS did this + the car graphics controller to keep valves open and he is pleased

We are not direct authorized dealers but when client's do want them we can get it for them. Those are popular as well but for us Akra and Soul are our best sellers.

Before you remove the OPF open the valves full time (Soul Delete kit, always open) or (car graphics, can open or close or factory setting).

I put the soul delete modules ($350) on my car last week, it takes 15-20 minutes if you have done it before and 30-40 minutes if it’s your first time. It turns the sewing machine sound below 5k rpm into a nice sounding exhaust. No CEL.

if you want it louder you can go from there.

This is good advice. I went with the cargraphic module and the car sounds much better with this. Then ultimately went with an R1 catback for some more volume.
