Gave up on GT3RS, hello Mclaren 620R
First and foremost, I am a track guy. Love tracking my cars. I do it whenever time permits and have been tracking for 12+ years. When it comes to Porsche, I got a decently loaded up 6 speed PTS 992 GT3 ($227k MSRP) that I was able to order new from my local dealer last year and the car turned out amazing. So unfortunately my dealer was only getting a few GT3RS allocations and I was not one of the VIP clients with them, so wasn’t upset when they could not get me an allocation with them. So now the search for a GT3RS allocation from other dealers begins. I called countless dealers, and was rejected by all of them. And this has been going on well over the last 1.5 years now.
Finally as of the last few months, I’ve got some dealers with allocations offering insane ADM on allocations. I know what the fair ADMs are thanks to this forum. And I also know cars are having a pretty hard time selling across the board right now compared to the last 3 years. I don’t mind paying ADM on a GT3RS like 90% of people have had to do, but the ADM quotes that were offered to me were crazy. $175k, $200k, $220k were the most recents. So I said heck with it, I’m not spending $450-500k when it’s all said and done for one of these, and went and sold my Artura, and picked up a 1 owner, 1,170 mile 620r.
For under $300k. You get one heck of a track toy. I really don’t know how these things have stayed under that price point, and I’d suspect these will be major collector cars in the future. Especially since there is only 40 of them that were delivered here in the US (225 for the world). Yes it’s not as fast as my 765LT, and there really isn’t much else that is for under $1 mil. But I’d say it’s very close to 720 fast. And around a track it’s definitely faster than a 720 and one of the best bang for the buck track cars $$ can buy. It’s so engaging and fun it’s almost unbelievable. And with that roof scoop, my goodness. This might be a forever car for me in the collection.
So all in all, I am blown away at how good the 620R is. I did not think there could be a car that you could get for under $300k that is this good. I must say though, I really still want a GT3RS. And if there is a dealer out there willing to give me a legit fair price for an allocation, I am your guy. But for now, the 620R is the shiny new toy in my garage. It’s the perfect track car that super rare and puts down some seriously fast lap times. It might (and I say this lightly) be able to keep up with my 765LT around some tracks if you throw on the slicks that Pirelli makes specifically for the 620r. It would be very close I feel. But even if it can’t, the car is a home run. The cars are bulletproof around the track as well, you can pound lap after lap on them and without issues. OEM brake pads are it’s only weakness for tracking, but luckily there are a decent amount of companies that make better pads that will easily last you many track days for a cheaper price.
Anyone else in here own a 620r??

I don't have a 620R but yours looks great ! How is the 620R different from the 600LT ?

The 620R is an insane setup and is one of the very few cars that allow you to run a set of slicks direct from the factory on a road car.
I think it didn’t sell well since it was so late in the lifecycle of the 570 platform and the 600lt looks much better plus the whole flamethrower exhaust. Also the 620R is a bit limiting with Senna seats which most were configured with which are a true pain in the *** since the roof doesn’t open up with the door like the 765 and Senna. Yours is the first I’ve seen without them!
Regardless the car is a serious machine, especially with slicks, congrats!

That's a nice looking car, enjoy it. The lowest ADMs that I got from two brokers over the summer was $100k over on the 3RS, everywhere else was $125k-$200k.

Damn, looks like fun. I have been tempted more and more these days to consider McLaren for the next sports car.

Good on you for pulling the trigger and not waiting around. Looks like an amazing machine!
992 Gt3RS will be around for some time and with what looks to be volumes to exceed the 991.2 run. Lots of opportunity to pick one up in the secondary market without an insane adm when prices moderate in the next year or so.

and crazy that 350 units where planned - and after numbers where not reached they dropped it down to 225 and sent new number badges to the dealers to re-fit it on the cars xxx of 225 instead xxx of 350.
a friend of mine has still 24x as 620R Number so it fits to his P1 and birthday. looks funny 24x of 225
620r is a hell of a (track) car.
i keep my fingers crossed for you for a fair 992 RS allocation.

McLaren with some reliability improvement and better dealer network will give Porsche a run for their money
never owned one but it seems more likely as time goes by , unfortunately for me , closest dealer is 250 miles away

I almost bought a 620r but my local Mclaren dealer isnt "authorized" to work on it and I would of had to ship the car to Atlanta for service. Plus I hate the entire mandatory $500 pre and $500 post track inspection. So annoying, I dont have time. Love the car tho!

Weird how the 765lt was slower than the 720s at Hockenheim and also the 620r was slower than the 600lt.

Yeah not sure, I do know that the 765 holds a lot of production car lap records at a fair amount of tracks across the US. At Laguna Seca which is one of my favorite tracks, there was a 765 owner that put down a 1:26 on stock Trofeo R's which is tied with a Senna. Unreal fast. Comes down to the driver a lot of the times as you know. That's what is shocking about the 620r, it is stupid fast. On stock street tires, it would probably be 2 seconds slower that a 765 simply because of the power difference. But the 620 has so much downforce compared to the 765, with a set of the Pirelli slicks that were designed for the 620, it might give a 765 a run for its money. But take that statement lightly.
