Looks like I voted incorrectly on the poll. Not sure there is anyway to reverse that for clarity sake but it is definitely not 1qt per 500-1000 for me. It should be 4000+.

Not sure how to answer poll Carl. 1300 miles. No track use so far. Have not had to add any.

Followed break-in with 1500km of mountain driving. Varying rpm. Nothing past 5K. For the 2023 season, I used maybe 1/4 qt for the 2500km I drove which was 95% track. So if I extrapolate that out, roughly 10k km (6220 miles) per qt.

It would be advantageous to know if the "break-in" was followed or not wrt oil consumption. In my experience the harder the break-in the smaller the oil consumption. This goes for my dyno break-in race bikes as well. Never a single issue or oil consumption issue. Only excessive oil consumption I experienced was a pre-owned 997.2 C2S I had, which I purchased with 12k miles.

That's one scenario. Effectively, any substantial deviation from what is recommended. Me personally, I try to progressively stretch the RPM's around 100-150 miles after oil temps are nominal. By ~250 miles of that I am driving it like I want to.

Would also be interesting if someone used something other than the prescribed 0W40 C40 oil (particularly oil use before and after changeover). I’m guessing 5W40 may not burn as readily (but not sure what other consequences might occur, aside from jeopardizing the warranty).
With the 991.2, there were 3 different A40 approved weights and the 5W50 seemed to resist vaporizing best (and 5W40 better than 0W40).
