Default poll average oil comsumption

I did a post a while back on oil use thought it would be more useful to evaluate yours if there is an average range.
My car @6000 mi seems to ave about 1700-2000 per qt no track.

Dealer told me 1 qt per 1k is normal but if it turns into 2qt's per 1k then it's an issue.

I've had my 2024 car for about 3 months now, 2,500km and nothing so far. The oil level has been sitting at the middle since the day I got it, but I plan to go top it up to the 3/4 mark before my first track day in a couple of weeks.

It would be advantageous to know if the "break-in" was followed or not wrt oil consumption. In my experience the harder the break-in the smaller the oil consumption. This goes for my dyno break-in race bikes as well. Never a single issue or oil consumption issue. Only excessive oil consumption I experienced was a pre-owned 997.2 C2S I had, which I purchased with 12k miles.

I totally agree. This has been the case with all my GT cars.

On the harder break in ( which I am a total fan of ) how soon were you going to 9k ? 100 miles or right away. I bought a brand new Super Stock Challenger last year and burned the tires off it within the first 300 miles lol.

lol, for me I waited until everything was warmed up and pretty much went to 7K right away. I stayed below 9K just because I don't ever want to have any issues with warranty in the future but I didn't baby it during break in. I'm sure I "accidentally" went past 7K a few times though. I'm a fan of hard break in as well.

I went 150 mi before going full beans. I’m at right under 5000mi and the gauge moved maybe 1/8 down. Fair to say I can probably go the full 10k mi intervals technically not needing a top off. I have done this with every car I ever had and not one has needed oil in between scheduled services.

My thinking is that if an engine is turning at 1000rpm just idling and cruising is 4-6k then in 150mi with varied driving how many countless cycles has that engine already seen. 250k cycles an hour or so….not sure I’m no math whiz but it’s more than enough time to wear any metal on metal and enough time for any parts that are out of spec to present themselves.

Pretty sure the smallest interval on the gauge is 1/4 (of a liter).

I always keep my gauge at the 3/4 level as instructed in the track manual as the optimum point for both road and track use. As soon as it reaches 1/2 on the green zone, I add enough (around 200ml) to get it back to 3/4. I haven’t kept track of the miles between filling though…

I was estimating how far it dropped down from where it was at delivery at 3/4. It went down about 1/8 of the way from that point to the fill line. Dealer topped it off when I went in to get a tire replaced but it took a minuscule amount to put it back to 3/4 so that gauge has a small window really.

I broke my car in on a track starting with 84 miles on the odometer and then followed by a few laps on the the Tail of the Dragon. I did keep it below 7k rpm except for two times of short duration. I have very little oil usage. I didn't have to add oil in the last year. Just 2/3 of a quart at 4k miles. It has 7k miles now with no discernable usage. You need to seat the piston rings by creating a differential pressure across them. The best way to do that is constantly varying revs under load. A track is the best place to do this. Always let it warm up to 180 degrees (oil) before pushing the car regardless of what the time in life is.
