Yes, that is the only option. My guess is that having half of the oil being the new dyed Green GT oil will color all the oil Green (perhaps a lighter shade). The old X3 and new GT oils are fully compatible with each other (and largely similar, other than the color). You just want to avoid the new X4 oil in the GT3.

I think after enough time passes, the dealers are going to rely on your car having Green oil in its engine to ensure warranty compliance (and non-Green oil for models designated to use the X4 oil).

Oof.. I entered in the other number and that one showed up and I didn't even realize it. I just canceled it ! Thanks for double checking it.

Ah okay, thanks. Your post was useful though because I have a 718 Boxster GTS which takes the x4 oil.
