Supposed to get my first 'free' service on my '23 GT3T in the next few weeks. Brand new P dealership locally that does not look to have any master techs yet. I know a master tech should not be required for an oil change but hopefully not Jiffy Lube hires moving up either. I hope they know to use the correct oil. Is it the new red label in post 59 above? Interestingly they said there are 4 service recalls to be done. I had only received notice of 2. Fuel filler neck, something to do with the Bose base, LWB airbag and spoiler deployment software updates.

No need to hope. Verify prior.

I had to deal with this on 2021 Cayman GTS 4.0 when C40 oil was released. Porsche dealer only had A40 in drums because I visited in advance and asked them to show me the bottled oil and I also asked them to specify what oil they had in the 55-gallon drum in the shop. When they said they didn’t have the C40 oil in stock, I showed them the documentation and the picture of the C40 oil; they ordered it (took some time), and then we did the oil change.

I would bet we know at this point much more than the Porsche dealer knows about this, and I think you have enough information from this thread (documentation, photos, etc) to educate them. Lastly, make sure you tell them you want the words “Engine Oil Change using OEM C40-GT 0w-40.” Once you ask for that, they won’t even want to put anything else in. Ask them to show you the oil on the day you visit for the service because they’ll be using bottles. It’s not micromanaging; it’s making sure the nurse has gloves and watching the nurse put gloves on before she draws your blood.

Great info 348. Really appreciate your thoughts. I scheduled the appt and the woman agreed and said they would order all required parts for recall and make sure they had oil required for GT cars. I plan on double checking however.

You're welcome.

Incidentally, one time a nurse approached me with the needle to draw blood and wasn’t wearing gloves — I stopped her and said, “Are we wearing gloves today?” She actually sneered and then went ahead and put the gloves on. This was in our 21st century. True story.

Just spoke to dealer today (March 1 is supposed to be the roll-out date) and confirmed a new notice from Porsche but he said mid to late March for availability (and no price yet either). ExxonMobil part number is 127920...

we should take a poll on how much they’re going to charge?
I say the dealer is going to charge about 20 - 25 bucks a quart?
12 to 15 at your local at your local auto parts store once they have it?

With the last stuff (ESP X3 C40 0W40), the dealer was the cheapest source I found, surprisingly (not including sales or temporary price reductions at Autozone, etc.)

Once we have the Porsche parts number — which they’ll do everything possible to keep secret — then we’ll be able to look up the true list price and refuse to pay anything higher. Those with wholesale accounts will be able to buy it for less. Also the discount online Porsche dealers might sell it for less. But then there’d be shipping.

Oil Club DE posted the VOA. Looks very similiar to ESP X3. I don't understand this move, but it is what it iis.

I have been harassing several Porsche parts counters and nobody seems to have the Porsche part number or retail price for the new C40 GT oil.
