Cross shopping between 992 GTS & 992 Touring (both manual)
Has anyone cross shopped between 992 GTS & 992 Touring (both manual)? If so what was the process like, what were the considerations and what did you end up buying and the reasons for the same.

The GTS is probably a better daily than the GT3. Softer ride, more comfortable seats, more torque, easier to drive. if you're looking to buy either car new and are a first time buyer you probably need some connections. Also depends if you're looking for MSRP. From what I've seen, GTS allocations are rarer than GT3 allocations in recent years.

It may not be realistic, but I highly encourage test drives (or even ride-alongs) if it's possible.

GT3 is the better experience and long term value play
GTS is the better all around driver and (likely for 99% of people) the better car

To the OP... do you actually have a line on both cars? If you don't, I think it will be VERY difficult sourcing a GT3. Like virtually impossible. So it may be an academic exercise.

This is a pretty good summary. I sold my GTS for a GT3 for the experience you note above. I also prefer the raw and firmer nature of the GT3 but for most people, the softer (not soft) and quieter nature of the GTS will likely be best.

It you track, get the gt3. If you don't, gts is the better choice.

I've owned a 992 4 GTS and currently own a 992 GT3.
I don't think the ride of the GT3 is any firmer than the GTS.
Don't think I'd daily drive the GT3, but only due to the color + giant wing.

Basically what everyone says above is correct. I was going to sell the GTS when the GT3T arrived. GTS is a way more liveable everyday car and I can't seem to part with mine (although it is a 991.1). Both are manual cars. If I had to get rid of one it would be a really tough call....

I may be spoiled a bit having owned a 982 GT4 with a manual box and now a 991.2 GT3 manual but when I tested/reviewed the 992 GTS I found that I would've ordered it with PDK myself. The 3.0 turbo engine works better with the PDK imo and the 7-speed manual box, while very good generally as a manual, isn't as good as the 6-speeds and as a result it annoyed me a bit. The shifts feels more rubbery and can't be done as quickly plus with the turbo you lose boost in between the gears which is something you really notice when you've been driving NA cars.
If a manual car is your game look for a GT3.

GTS is cheaper. Significantly.
If money is not a consideration, just get the GT3T

I have a GTS and a GT three before that I had a 992S manual.
the GTS is a sharp knife. The Gt3 is a scalpel!
The Gt3 is in more exciting car but it’s like going to an amusement park.
Only so many times you wanna ride the roller coaster in a row.

I just swapped my 992 GTS for a 992 GT3T. Both manual, 4 ways on GTS, 18 ways on GT3. Both are/were daily drivers and don't see the track.
I was worried about the ride quality difference (especially on Cups) but I don't mind it all. It doesn't really feel much stiffer to me, just seems to transmit more higher-frequency vibrations. The only complaint I have in switching is that the road noise in the GT3 is a bit intrusive. I miss small things like comfort access, heated steering wheel, and parking cameras/sensors, but the overall experience of the GT3 far outweighs these minor things.
