Default GT3 Stereo

Has any one upgraded their stereo system in their 992 GT3? If so what did you put in and would you do it again?

Currently I feel like when youre moving the music gets washed out completely so Im curious as to what everyone else is doing

Plenty of threads on this topic.
Do a search for Musicar. They offer 3 stages of stereo upgrades and many Rennlisters have used their components to improve soiund in their Porsches.

I put this in and it sounds great. The best part is that all of the speakers are plug-and-play, so there’s no wiring, cutting or added amps. And, it’s designed for the 992. I was able to get a better price because I’d been introduced to Focal a few years ago by the local dealer and have a great relationship with him — and he’s got a GT3RS.

@Squeaky65 was thinking of the Focal kit as well, but after I actually drove mine, I couldn’t see how you could hear any difference unless you were parked. Maybe if you add a bunch of sound deadening?

I added a powered subwoofer, it made a considerable difference for me. If I get the itch I may add the Musicar tweeter to make it complete. (The added weight of the subwoofer was offset by the weight savings from my titanium exhaust.)

As far as I can tell, Musicar is MIA. At least they dropped off the face of the earth on their 992 base stereo upgrade process.

There's a You Tube video of a Focal install on a 992 GT3 by Obsessed Garage.
At the end of the day, Matt said the amp install is a PIA and wasn't worth the hassle for the sound difference.
I believe the amp install and tuning is $5000 alone.

Said that the system is "better".... but "certainly not $6000 better with the stock amp".

Overall, he was disappointed and not a fan.
Said that the sound was too "bright".

There is no way in h*** that I am paying $8k for 7 car speakers. And this is coming from someone who owned a high end car audio store back in the hay day and knows expense speakers.

I’ll sell you mine. Make me an offer I can’t refuse.

Check their Instagram. Seem to still be doing 992’s. New sub enclosures.
