Hello, I am looking to run full racing slicks on my 992 GT3RS, but I have yet to see anyone other than the team at GMG Racing.

Can we start a thread with folks who track their 992 RS cars so we can share some of our own experiences with it?

To start, I am coming from the 991 GT cars; now getting my hands on a 992 RS, I am looking to purchase a 19 Forgeline, most likely the GE1R style, to pair up with Pirelli 275 675 19 fronts and Pirelli 325 705 19 rears. I will keep this thread updated once the wheel and tire have arrived.

ps.. saw this at VIR last season, interesting to see a 992 RS running on the Yokohama slicks.

This is going to be in my near future soon. I've done 19 track days on the stock size tires, Pirelli Corsa, Goodyear F1 Eagle SuperSport R, and Michelin Cup 2.

It's difficult to source Michelin Cup 2R tires in the car's size, I may have to try skinnier front tires (265 vs 275) since the fronts are perpetually out of stock.

But before I switch to 19s I'm going to need to change to AP racing kit. I just absolutely despise the Forgeline wheel look, so hopefully I can get something out of Apex in a near future.

Once you go slicks you never go back. Cup2r's are crap compared to slicks.

Well aware, Pirelli DHx are my favorite tires. If only they came in 20/21.

Personally, cup2rs are crap because I have found that their peak grip is literally only 1 session and they fall off horribly. I've been told though that on freshly repaved track surfaces (Laguna and Sonoma) they last longer so I'm willing to try it.

It's only money, but I thought this was one of the several compelling reasons to buy an RS over a Cup.

Not for me, I choose a CUP over an RS because I track my cars.....

Ok, so this wouldn’t apply to you and other Cup owners.

But RS owners may want to consider this issue during the warranty period, right?

Yes, because if I owned an RS I would run slicks but someone like you may not have the financial resources to risk losing a warranty. Everyone has their own risk tolerance...... This really shouldn't be this hard for you to understand....

Perhaps I missed this, but did you consider something like a Hoosier R7?

R7 won't hold a candle to the slicks even to the used scrubs.

Please keep us posted. OP are you planning to try the Yoko slicks? Definitely want to know how they fair compared to the Pirelli DH. (grip/longevity/cost).

This isn't really about me - I just wanted to subtly include the information about risking one's warranty when using slicks (without wanting to come off as browbeating). While most RS owners are likely aware of this, it may not be known by all...

I guess the question would be, how would they know? The only differentiator would be the higher G loads that slicks are capable of generating. But on this generation RS I'm regularly pulling > 2 G with "street" tires. This is probably why axles are now a "wear item".

didnt porsche specifically say not to run slicks on gt3 in past? i remember that with 997. suspension not capable of dealing with forces of slicks? dont remember for sure but be careful even with 992 version.
