Default Holy **** the no lift shift, with the auto blip!

Ok, hear me out, I don't think we have a stick shift car in the GT3 anymore. It is a beautifully masked performance and beautiful it is. With the auto blip on, the no lift shift is no different than the PDK upshift, like at all! Not that I am complaining, I love it every single time but a little birdie in the back of my head keeps telling me, it wasn't you, jack, it wasn't you.

No-lift upshifts work with or without the auto rev matching button pressed. You can choose to do it or not at any time…

I always thought how cool would it be for an automatic transmission to actually do all the work, and shift for you, but it’s still a manual if you want it to be.

I guess this is a little closer to that.

I went through a phase of no lift shifting. It's pretty cool, have to admit. The 992 is probably better in this regard, but in the 991.2 I'm ultimately smoother doing it full manual. At least for upshifts. I do a decent job of rev match downshifts but no one can match auto-blip at the end of the day.

I decided it's more fun to DIY without the computers.

Even with the auto blip off you can still hold the throttle at a position or even press on throttle while downshifting and it will smoothly downshift.

The manual transmission is magical.

One of my favorite little quirks is the upshifts when auto blip is on. It’s almost needed as the revs drop quickly. Even more so with the SMFW and clutch.

The upshifts sound crazy if you flat shift with auto blip off. Adds an amazing sound of induction noises. Almost pdkish.

This is shifting at a normal pace and only to 6500rpms, but you can hear the auto blip upshifts. Dundon FTW

Echo that feeling. Negative take on it is that’s it’s basically not too different than PDK. Positive take is that you can have your cake and eat it too.

I’m going to leave it all as is for now as I get used to the car and revisit in six months, personally I find a lot of satisfaction in a well executed heel-toe downshift revmatch before a turn.

@Jbravo23 glad to hear it all continues to work with the updated clutch and flywheel, nice video.

I'm in the exact same boat. I just can't "adapt" to not lifting.

Me too i have to concentrate not to let off the gas is not that easy kind of counterintuitive .
maybe driving only manuals for 62 years has something to do with it.
Lots of water under the bridge..
I do have to admit it works well when you get it right

Oh I absolutely get that it takes some work, even now that I am starting to get used to it and really enjoying it. Today I tried it at 9000 rpm and that is where the idea came to my mind that this is basically a pdk pretending to be a manual. It's like there are turbos that get activated when you do a no lift shift at 9000 rpm with auto-blip.

I retrained my muscle memory to do it, but then drove my 73 911 at the track last weekend and it was challenging to re-learn the old way again (not to mention the lack of ABS, etc)…

ok, I too retrained my brain yesterday on a track day. The feature is magical. I actual think it is more gentle on the clutch/driveline too. HIGHLY recommend people get their head around not lifting that throttle foot.

edit: got some onboard. Each upshift was a no lift shift.
