Default Lightweight glass

The rear windscreen on my new 991 Turbo S is very hazy

I'm told it's normal for lightweight heat and noise resistant glass.
Odd that it's only the rear window, not rear side windows.
Anyone else had the same>

Nope that's very odd, the rear LWG is just as clear as the side LWG in my car.
Have you had your windows tinted?

No tint. Had ppf done on body and noticed haze after that but could have been there before.
Also some distortion through rear glass.
Car is 3 months old and has done 3000k

There was a thread on this in the GT3 forum. It’s normal. Apparently those who had the windows tinted are not having the same issue. Usually hazing comes from off gassing of interior materials. Maybe whatever is off gassing is attracted to the standard surface coating of the lightweight glass.

Not normal if it doesn't go away - I have LWG on both my TTS, and GT3, and neither has that.

I was under the impression the thin material was just thin glass

I have a 992C2S with this issue that will not go away. I'll clean the glass and the next time I drive the car the side and rear glass has a film on it.
Very frustrating! I'm wondering if a ceramic coating will help.

FWIW, the oily film that accumulates on the inside of a new car's windows in not unique to the quiet glass option or to Porsche. This is the normal accumulation of the new interior plastics off gassing and condensing on other parts of the interior, including the window glass where it is particularly noticeable. That "New Car Smell" can also attributed to this off gassing process. In time, the rate of the deposits where it is most noticeable, such as the window glass will diminish. I like and use products designed to clean plastic windscreens, such as on motorcycles and some aircraft. Ex: "Plexus" which is rather expensive, or "Invisible Glass" which seems to do just as well for less than a quarter of the Plexus price.

Since the OP has seemingly had his question answered…so not wanting to hijack thread….can I ask you all if you find a difference with lightweight glass in interior comfort?…road noise - sound system acoustics?….and would you buy the option again?
