replacement cost is about a wash if you can get 5 pad-set swaps for each PCCB rotor - my data from my 2018 GT3 shows that be to a likely outcome if i hadn't made a mistake and let my rear rotors pads wear below 30-40% before swapping
https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...3-991-2-a.html
the rotor wear rate appears to be on track (no pun intended) to be 4-6 pad sets and then you'll need new rotors - given that you swap steels (at least the factory steels with each pad set) this means PCCB rotors are only swapped once every 5 pad sets (or more) - bringing total cost of 5 or 6 brake jobs inline with steels…
so it's really honestly a YMMV situation - but you don't swap the PCCB rotors as often as you do steels…so the straight cost comparison is a bit harder to work out…no question a set of PCCB rotors cost way more than a set of cast-iron rotors…but PCCB rotors last longer than cast iron rotors even when they are tracked…so....it's all down to the consumption rate.

I’m at 30+ track days and went through about 6~7 pad sets and still on the original rotors.

Seems to me like those “reputable techs/mechanics” you deal with are there to rip you off. As long as the rotors meet minimum thickness and that there are no cracks interconnecting cooling holes, I see no reason the rotors would need replacing. This has worked for me for 30 years and several hundreds of track days, so yes, I’ll continue doing me.

This is correct. There is a min thickness stamped on the rotors and a specific spec for replacing them.

Have heard from Surface Transform - they are working on something aimed at release later this year.
Has anyone considered pads other than the stock ones?
These 992 pads make a lot of dust.. and don't seem to last very long.

The designs are finished for the 992 Turbo S from Surface Transforms. We are just waiting on hats right now I believe, but still likely a few months out before customers see them. I spoke with Pagid and they are also developing the RSC1 compound for the 10-piston Turbo S caliper, it should be hitting the market at the end of August or early September...

Update from Girodisc: Iron rotors are in the works and ETA by end of the year just talked to Girodisc. Patience
This will be relief if you want to track and store your PCCB for re-sale.
