Default 200C DOWNPIPES VS FULL EXHAUST

Hi friends,

For those who have experience, I was wondering if someone could enlighten me regarding the aural differences between the Stock PSE + 200cel cats vs FULL exhaust with 200cell cats.
I like the tone of the stock exhaust, but its much too sedate for me. I'm looking for a deeper and louder tone without excessive drone. I currently have the Kline 200 cell inconel cats on order, contemplating adding the rear section as well.... but have been holding off as I have this feeling the rear muffler is more of a diminishing returns proposition after doing DPs.

thanks for everyones advice.

J

Have you done the Cargraphic exhaust valve controller at least?

Its going to be hard to compare bc the "full exhaust" can be

1)non-muffled system (straight pipes, straightpipe with x crossover)
2)muffled system ( with muffler bypass, without muffler bypass)

All of which will have different tonal qualities and overall sound levels

I am running the Kline cat bypasses with the stock PSE but with the M tune full valve control. It is much louder than stock when in sport (muffler bypass) mode. Loud as in straight pipe loud. In non-bypass mode it is still 20-30% louder than stock

I have had Kline exhaust many ways on 991.2's and 992's, all were with Kline headers, most had 100 cell cats and many have no cats, can not speak for 200 cell cats as I never had them. No drone issues either way on any of my cars, very happy with Kline exhaust note, it loud but not insane with no cats, of course that changes with high rpm's. The inconel has a higher pitch than the stainless steel

It depends on what your goals are.

Downpipes will upgrade the sound of the exhaust at a less expensive cost (in most cases), making the car sound more aggressive and louder. If you like the current exhaust sound and you just want more sound, the downpipes are an excellent option.

A full exhaust upgrade transforms the sound of the car, and it's ultimately the best sound upgrade you can do on your car, but it's also the most expensive.

It'll come down to personal preference and budget, but if the budget is not a concern, I'd go with a full exhaust upgrade and pair it with 200 CEL cats.

Here are some samples inside and out with both setups: (youtube shorts are hyperlinked)

JCR 200 Cell downpipes and PSE - louder with more turbo whine - sounds good but sounds muffled.

JCR 200 downpipes and valved titanium centre - more dynamic range and vicious tone - THIS IS A MUST!

For what it's worth, I have the FabSpeed 200 cell cats and the OEM sport exhaust. I'd intended to add the remaining full exhaust pieces, but, I've been pleasantly surprised with the sound of the 200 cell cats alone. It took a month or so of driving to have the full effect of sound really settle in. And now, it's actually too loud for a drive-through, for example. So, for the time being, I'm sticking with these. Although I do have the Akra exhaust saved in my online cart for future reference, just in case... Just a point of reference.

This is exactly what I wanted to.. I just need about 15% - 20% more sound. What do you mean can't do a drive-through?

Soul exhaust makes the most power and has a true 3 inch X pipe FYI.

Adding a sport cat will achieve that then, gives you a nice boost in power and sound.

We are dealers for Soul and Fabspeed if you're interested.

When I ran cat bypass pipes and the factory PSE the sound was louder but the tonal quality became to raspy for me so I went to a valved aftermarket exhaust.
